Just read another thread about ball gowns and black tie events. I’m not an exec or the wife of one but I REALLY want to get dolled up at a really nice event, darn it.
Any suggestions of events that are like this for a rando like me? Lol |
| Inaugural balls and celebrations will be happening soon, along with holiday celebrations. Get on some guest lists, and consider joining the types of organizations that have formal events as fundraisers. |
| Yep that annual ball for work |
| You can buy tickets to charity galas. You can also buy tickets to inaugural balls. |
| I posted on that thread, I'm not an exec, most of my black tie events are work related. |
| Most normal charity galas may be black tie, but they are not ballgown events. |

Depending on what you want to wear and how - you might be able to find a fandom, like harajuku girls or steampunks or goths/dark academia but for adults in ball gowns;
Look for a Bridgerton ball or a Jane Austen ball Put is on insta and create a new -core if there isn’t one Seriously, the world needs more people like you who want to dress up and have fun - you are not the only one, go find your people or create the community you want |
| Go on a cruise. People dress up on the formal nights. A Christmas cruise is particularly fancy and fun. |
| I've seen people in long formal dresses at the opera, but usually not ballgowns. |
What’s the difference? Links, please. |
Ballgown is a specific cut of long dress with a larger skirt. |
| Yeah, you don’t actually wear a ball gown to black tie. Black tie = sophisticated floor length gown. Ball gown sounds like a full skirt deal. Haven’t seen that out and about. But there are some purchase-ticket black tie events, just search online. Dunno if any good but can provide excuse to dress up. |
