"I am about to accept an offer on my house just to get more money to fund my plan to kill Democrat office holders and their families," Patrick wrote, according to authorities. "It is all I think about night and day. I even wake up in the middle of the night, most nights, thinking about it. Ultimately I will be killed but hopefully I will have killed many many [liberals] elected in Washington."

“The Me Too movement is real. It matters. It is needed, and it is long overdue,” Ms. Collins said. She added that although she found Dr. Blasey’s testimony to be “sincere, painful and compelling,” witnesses provided no corroborating evidence.

“Certain fundamental legal principles about due process, the presumption of innocence and fairness do bear on my thinking, and I cannot abandon them,” Ms. Collins said, adding, “We will be ill-served in the long run if we abandon the presumption of innocence and fairness.”

I agree Ms. Collins and this you're guilty because I said so now prove your innocence is dangerous and a threat to our nation as a whole.

I'm left wondering if Avenatti is actually a Republican operative. Swetnick's story changed dramatically from the letter she first wrote, to her NBC interview a week later. Why would Sen Collins give them any credibility? They deserved NONE. I believe those were the claims that had Kavanaugh so fired up last week.

Swetnick’s story didn’t seem terribly far fetched for a group of entitled boys who disrespected women like they breathed. If only the White House didn’t stand on the FBI’s neck when they were looking into the claims, right? Maybe we’d know a little more.

JFC.
1 in 6 women is the victim of a rape or attempted rape.
2% of all rape accusations are false.
2/3 of all rapes are unreported

Three public accusations against Brett. Do some math. Use some critical thinking skills. What is more likely: the angry man who couldn’t control himself also has a problem with women, or there’s a smear campaign that’s been orchestrated since about 2012. Seriously.

Were these three public accusations for rape?
Your stats refer to rape.

It's the lack of when or where that troubles me. Last weeks hearings turned into a "court of law" thanks to all of the idiots involved. I know this wasn't a trial with prosecutors and defense attorneys but that's how it played out. No jury would have found him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I don't doubt that something happened to her and I know his behavior during those years was boorish but the preponderance of evidence is incredibly weak.

But you persist in giving a completely wrong idea of what corroboration means. Jesus.

She would be a firm no had Leland Keyser corroborated Ford, or PJ remembered it, or MJ remembered it, or the driver who drove her home come forward, or the therapists notes mentioned Kav's name, or anything corroborated her. For anyone who is participating hate campaign against Collins, shame on you.

She has a miserable record as a senator. Shame on her. Can't wait til she's voted out.

shame on her for not considering Kavanugh's shameful behavior

Yep, that’s about what I expect now that Trump has heated up people with serious mental illness.

Oh, you’re right - 100% of women have had a guy grope her, leer at her, proposition her, or say something filthy.

McGahn made Trump stop the FBI from investigating because it would be damaging for Kavanugh’s chances. There’s zero reason for that unless they suspected or knew the charges against him were true. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/05/us/politics/trump-kavanaugh-fbi.html?action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype=Homepage

I also experienced a sexual assault before age 18. I’d like to say I was at the Capital today with my story, and making my voice heard, but I wasn’t. I’m not strong enough or brave enough to talk about it. The only people I have been able to tell are my husband, my therapist and my best friend. My husband and best friend know that I was assaulted, but not the details. My therapist knows the details because I have written them down. I can’t talk to her about it. So I write to her about it. I still can’t say the words 25 years later. I still have nightmares.

What Susan Collins did today was cruel. She could have been a yes all along and not created the buildup. She could have left it at announcing a yes this morning, like Flake or Sasse, and moved on without the drama. I hate their decisions, but they weren’t personal they way Collins’s was. She could have discussed his record and their discussions..
I really don’t understand why Susan Collins would say she believes Dr. Ford— except she doesn’t believe the part about the attempted rape. That she believes sexual assault is important— just not important enough to actually do anything. While making a production of being the person responsible for ramming Kavanaugh through Congress. Her speech was an extra special f#ck you to #MeToo.

I wouldn’t understand the cruelty if a man did it either. But it seemed more personal coming from a woman. I saw a tweet that called it worlds slowest, longest middle finger to sexual assault survivors. And it was.

This is certainly why I have never been able to talk about it. Because I know that she’s saying what most people think.

It was very hard to hear Dr. Fords testimony, and it has been a hard ten day. Susan Collins made sure the knife was jammed in as far as possible and twisted.

These are liberal tears. Literally. This lib concedes. I have been owned. Congrats. I hope you feel better than I do.

Hugs to you. I hear you and I believe you.

+1000000.

Me, too; I’m so sorry for all of this. For all of this repulsive, cruel theater.

It also bothers me deeply that Collins was scathing and dishonest regarding Swetnick’s unpursued claim, and wholly ignored Debbie Ramirez. So cruel and unnecessary, all of it. But very revealing. Only a white professor, who presents as girlish and sweet and credible, even warranted comment. A Latina Yale graduate described multiple times as unfailingly honest, is totally ignored. A woman regarded as not quite of the Dr. Ford class, who wasn’t a private school kid, is treated as garbage. As an outrage.

What decent person does this?

Swetnick's claims of Kavanaugh being part of a serial gang rape ring were so over the top and outrageous that they likely tanked the whole thing. Collins lied. Lied. She said it was “outlandis...without credible supporting information” when it was NOT INVESTIGATED, and Avenatti and his client faced all manner of exposure if they were found to have deliberately put out a bs claim. What Collins said was literally untrue and done to foment the lie of a full investigation. Collins had no rift to do so.

Stats are even higher for women being assaulted (non-rape) and harassed, is that what you're trying to say?

I would estimate nearly every woman alive has been harassed or experienced something disturbing at the hands of a man. Just ask all the women you know if they've ever experienced unwelcomed touches and gropes from a man, unwelcomed sexually explicit comments from a man, or unwanted views of a man's penis, especially if it was being masturbated. (3 times in my life I've had that happen to me!)

Kind of surprised he’s been arrested.

Someone posted a while ago that they do not like women who always believe women.

Well, women who NEVER believe women and always side with men are the most pathetic creatures ever. So there.

Must be awful to hate yourself.

I posted that! Sadly in my anger I meant most women hate women who do NOT believe other women. But I forgot the *not* so it was a failing post. I hate Collins now. I feel she is a traitor to women. I feel the Senate failed women today. Why couldn’t they find a candidate who didn’t have a questionable past. No one had terrible things about Gorsuch!

I am so glad you responded because I was so disturbed by your post as I have been so disturbed by everything! Thanks so much for clarifying!

And I am a Democrat and absolutely agree that none of this crap came up about Gorsuch - also a Prep grad.

Also, I read the entire Prep year book from Kav's year and the only pigs were the football players.

Poor Renate.

Again, WHY DO ALL OF HIS FRIENDS REFERENCE "RIDGE KLUX CLAN?" Can't just be "boys being boys!" Will someone look into this or send to a journalist???

So spare me your "boys will be boys" BS. Raise better boys FFS.

But it wasn’t Brett Kavanaugh that did it.
