Teens at concert without parent

Anonymous
New to this so apologies if this is obvious but…are teens allowed to go to concerts without an adult? I bought 2 tickets to the Sabrina Carpenter concert in Baltimore for my soon to be 16 year old DD’s birthday and I’d prefer she go with a friend than with me. Are two 15.5 year old girls going to be allowed in alone? I’d wait for them in the parking lot. Any reasons I shouldn’t do this? Thank you!

Yes. My 16 year old has been to two different concerts with friends. No problems. Just arrange a specific meeting place for after the concert.

Yes they can go alone.

Yes, they can go alone.

I only had two tickets to the first round of the Taylor Swift Eras tour and my girls were 13 and 16 at the time. I dropped them off in the parking lot outside of Citizens Bank Park in Philly and was able to reconnect with them at midnight. There was a sea of people leaving the venue so it wasn't like they were walking alone in the middle of the night.

Just make 1000% sure that their phones are charged and "Find-my-phone is on." It would be a disaster to try and pick-up a kid after a concert without a phone.

I'm sending two thirteen-year-olds to Sabrina Carpenter. The crowds will be Taylor Swift-like, so I'm not worried about that part. I plan to walk them to a door and arrange to meet them at that same spot after the concert. Phone charging is key though.

Also, my 13 year old is more independent and savvy than her sibling. I'd never have sent her sister in alone at this age.

Unless it's at a club with an age requirement it's fine.

This is fine. I started dropping mine starting in high school

Yes, this should work for Sabrina Carpenter. At a large stadium concert the parking was sold out for miles and many roads were blocked by the police. It would have been next to impossible to be meet the kids on foot and super imperative to be able to tell them were to find me (which was basically a "kiss and ride" area for pick-ups).

It’s fine, but just know that there’s no “parking lot” for the arena. You may already know this, but there is a garage at the arena that costs $50 but it will get sold out so book your spot ahead. There are also other local garages but again you’ll want to book ahead of time.

Not OP, but thank you for sharing -- I didn't realize this!

Gen X crone here, stopping by on my way to the mall with Ashley and Jennifer to say that it's always a good idea to teach your kids to navigate the world as if they didn't have a phone. Pick a specific meeting point rather than just "text me when you get out and I'll come find you." Teach them to ask others for help/directions, and to be smart about choosing who to ask. Teach them to be aware of directional and informational signs, etc.

Because at some point, a kid will drop/lose/not charge/not hear their phone. It is a very useful tool, but it is not a failproof, guaranteed lifeline.

OP here. Thank you all for the info and helpful tips, especially about parking! I'm feeling a lot more confident now.

In this thread, replies are helpful, positive and supportive of 15.5 year olds going to concert on own. On this other thread it was a majority hard no, don’t have 14 year kids go alone. Does year and 1/2 make that much difference or is it because the one thread was silent on day of week and how late concert goes and other wasn’t or something else?
