Changing shoes at a wedding, how to carry?

Anonymous
If you bring a more comfortable pair of shoes to change into for a wedding reception, say wearing high heels for the ceremony and photos and then switching to flats or a more heel, how do you carry them? I can't leave in the car since we're being shuttled to the venue from the hotel. My typical formal purse is too small for shoes.

Ask venue staff ahead of time?

Just carry them in anything and chuck them under a table when you get to the reception

How to carry isn't the problem, it's where to put them. I guess at a hotel, assume there is a coat check, coat closet, some type of storage area. I would make sure "your bag" is distinctive. Many, many others will be doing the same.

pp again, and under the table works!

I’ve done this and just used a more presentable tote/bag that I would use for work

Just wear the comfortable shoes.

In addition to a small formal purse or instead of a purse?

No one's noticing Op, just not something tacky

Carry your regular purse and a shoe bag.

I might tuck the little clutch inside for when I am walking around socializing or going to the bathroom. The first thing I'll do at the reception is tuck my bigger bag in a corner somewhere and then circulate with my cuter clutch. Then grab the big bag again and deal with the few minutes it looks "bad" while you go in for dinner. Then tuck it under the table. And don't forget about it!

I have a nylon computer tote from Target that works well for this. It's boring, but not ugly. For a summer wedding, I have a woven tote bag that looks cute.

Or I just wear the more comfortable shoes the whole time. It depends if I'll be in nicer pictures or not.

I would just put them in a separate bag that I'd stash somewhere at the venue (or leave on the shuttle bus if that might work). You don't need to carry them around with you.

I just had this problem last weekend! I was in the front row and the ceremony was outdoors, so I really didn't have anywhere to put anything until the reception. I ended up just wearing the heels all night, which was a mistake! One of the younger women there said they now sell fancy "pouches" for shoes for this very reason, but I haven't looked into it yet.

At my DS's wedding, I saw a few women bring a small tote bag along with their clutch purse. I assume they placed it under the table. The wedding was in warm weather and no coat check.

Yep. This is what I do, too.
