I’ve done this and just used a more presentable tote/bag that I would use for work
In addition to a small formal purse or instead of a purse?
I might tuck the little clutch inside for when I am walking around socializing or going to the bathroom. The first thing I'll do at the reception is tuck my bigger bag in a corner somewhere and then circulate with my cuter clutch. Then grab the big bag again and deal with the few minutes it looks "bad" while you go in for dinner. Then tuck it under the table. And don't forget about it! I have a nylon computer tote from Target that works well for this. It's boring, but not ugly. For a summer wedding, I have a woven tote bag that looks cute. Or I just wear the more comfortable shoes the whole time. It depends if I'll be in nicer pictures or not.
Yep. This is what I do, too.
