45 yo BFing needs so much help

So, as I said in the title, I am 45 and extended BFing my toddler who is 2. I want to wean but realistically I think it’s going to be a bit. She’s my third and she loves the one on one time.

I am 5’5” and I weighed around 140 when I got pregnant with her, and that was up from 130 when I had my second kid 8 years before. I am just creeping on up with years and pregnancies. Now, I’m 150 after gaining 5 pounds I can’t shake on vacation in August. I’m having such a hard time losing it and I think the combo of BFing and peri is kicking my a$s. I don’t drink during the week, I try to fast until noon, and I try to be very Whole Foods based. I am guessing I just need to track and be hungry. I eat a lot of protein. Main issues are I’m so tired, I’m so hungry and I’m so busy I feel like I don’t have time to not be overweight. I need some starting ideas. I feel so unlike myself right now.

You are killing yourself. Just enjoy this good time with the 2 year old. After you stop BF, stack personal trainer + cardio + counting calories + wegoyva

Stop breastfeeding and buy some semaglutide off the internet.

Show yourself some grace and try making just very small changes that don't feel like a punishment. Or just focus on maintaining for now.

I never lost an ounce of weight while I was breastfeeding. If your weight is bothering you, you may have to pick that or breastfeeding. It may be time to move on.

Dieting is a great way to wean. Your 2 yr old doesn’t need your breast milk for nutrition. Diet away and if you lose some supply, good. The 2 yr old will become less interested. Weaning accomplished

Your two year old can get one on one time another way. Stop BFing if you want to lose weight, and just cut back.

Same for me. I BF both of my kids for 2 years and didn't drop the last of the weight until they weaned. Between peri, BF, and 3 kids... you'll have to make some choices. You don't sound like you are in a place to start a new eating and exercise regimen. You also don't sound ready to wean. That's OK! Do one thing at a time, when you are ready.

It's time to cut the cord lady. Wean your kid and get on with your life.

Don’t do anything to increase supply. Just let it run its course.

If you’re that exhausted, then you need to wean. You think it’s good for bonding, but I promise there are other ways to bond. And I also nursed past 18 months so I’m not opposed to extended BFing at all. But an exhausted mom is not good for ANYBODY.

I know this post is about diet, but I’m looking out for your well-being. It’s time to wean. I promise your little one will be ok.

Thank you. I’m actually more exhausted by my middle schoolers and BTS!!! And just work and having three kids. I like BFing and will prob keep doing it for a bit. I do really struggle to lose weight while BFign and just in general. I only gained 25-30 lbs for all of my pregnancies and never lost the last 5-10 for each one, which is why here I am, up around 30 pounds. Sigh.

You should definitely do what you feel is right, but this internet stranger is giving you permission to wean whenever you are ready, and that includes before your little one seems ready. Take care of yourself! :)
