But so consistent with his character, wouldn’t you say? Whitaker WOULD drive. He’d also be a super engaged surrogate father which we saw when he talked to the baby. He’s from a farm in deep red country dating a farm widow who probably lives in a deep red Pittsburgh suburb. He’s very much the gentleman- always over the top polite and accommodating to cranky Santos. Of COURSE he’s going to drive! I just thought it was a cute little confirmation of who they have been setting up to be all this time. |
This is what I was going to say. I went to college with some boys from rural Nebraska and this is 100% what they'd do. They'd insist on in, but in a sweet way. They'd say things like "my momma would never forgive me if I let a lady pay for her own dinner." Not my thing at all andi could never be with someone like this because of course it's very retrograde. But also, looking back from middle age -- a lot of those boys probably made wonderful, loyal, helpful husbands. That division of labor is dangerous if the guy is a jerk but if he's a puppy like Whitaker, who would never get aggressive or hurt someone, it could actually be great. Instead of controlling, it's like the opposite -- he's in service to her, and she's in charge. |
What’s rude about facts? The seizures started at age 5 and were not due to stress. She had viral meningitis. PTSD is not the root cause of her seizures. PTSD is completely different from an absence seizure medically. But do carry on. |
| One of the linked interviews said there was a way forward for Langdon and Santos! Yeah! I would like to see them becoming friends! |
DP (one of multiple people who thinks you are being ridiculous) but Baram literally says in the scene with Robby that she thinks the first seizure of the day (which occurred while she was looking down at Baby Jane Doe, who was crying) may have been triggered because it was her first pediatric case "since Afghanistan" (where she was in a terror attack at a maternity hospital). SHE is the one linking her epileptic seizures to her PTSD (which the actress confirmed she has). No one here is making these links -- it's in the text of the show. Epileptic seizures are commonly brought on by stress. PTSD episodes are stress. |
I actually thought it added another layer to him. He seems more passive in the work envt but he takes on the "dominant" role in his relationship. Its not my thing but it did make me think about him in a different way. Just like we got to see all the characters "let their hair down" in their street clothes at the end. |
DP you are wrong. My child has epilepsy that was obviously not caused by PTSD or stress. Their neurologist said the main trigger for a seizure would be lack of sleep and stress. |
My original point stands. The initial comment way back when was only about her having PTSD and mentioned nothing about epilepsy. That poster had no idea about her epilepsy. The seizures could be bought on by stress, but the seizure itself is not a PTSD episode. How do you not understand that? |
That is exactly my point. Her initial condition, epilepsy, was not caused by PTSD. The PP had no idea it was epilepsy. All of the speculation about her episodes were based on PTSD only, and now we know that is not true. She had a much deeper condition that began in childhood. |
I understood her tears to be around fear for any undocumented family members/friends and disappointment in America. |
No one is saying that her epilepsy was caused by stress or PTSD. But her seizures had been under control and the fact that she is having breakthrough seizures is caused by stress (stress caused by/related to ptsd). |
The original quote from earlier in the thread stated she was having a dissociative episode due to PTSD. It was speculation at that point. That poster was wrong. She was actually having en epileptic seizure at that point. |
| Also loved the dead guy in chairs! |
| I didn’t quite get the Digby thing at the end - why would he have Whittaker’s badge? What was he doing with it? |
