Never tried it before but gave it a shot because it’s on sale and the ingredient list seemed clean — short and no corn syrup. It’s pretty good and half the price of HD!
Am I missing anything? Note we only buy basic flavors of ice cream - vanilla bean, peach, or cherry - so it’s possible the flavors the varieties have junk ingredients. |
Our family loves it. My fave is the cherry |
I feel like HD has gone downhill. I really like the Tillamook fruit flavors - cherry and strawberry - but am not a fan of the others I’ve tried can’t even remember their names |
It's way better. |
My kids like it. I like the Trader Joe’s vanilla and chocolate myself. |
I like it better than HD. But I do notice that it melts faster than many premium ice creams—I think there is more air incorporated into it, which is why the price is somewhat lower than Ben and Jerry’s and so forth. |
It's ice cream, if you like it no one can tell you that you didn't. Buy what you like. |
I was curious so I just checked — comparing Tilamook to Ben and Jerry’s chocolate chip cookie dough flavors, for a 2/3 cup serving, tilamook has 240 calories and 3 grams protein and Ben Jerry’s has 380 calories and 5 grams of protein. So you’re getting a third less ice cream with Tilamook. It still probably is cheaper though. |
Tillamook is based out of a dairy in Oregon. I love it. If you can find the marionberry pie flavor it’s amazing. |
Haagen-Dazs is overrated. |
OP:
No. I actually threw out the Tillamook the first time I bought it. It just wasn't the hype I'd been hearing. I've since bought it again and it is ok. I would love to find something better than Haagen Daz$$, but the other ice creams are gums and corn syrup. |
So a little HD goes a very long way, while you can fill your bowl up a bit more with Tillamook and not feel as gluttonous? |
Read the ingredient list. Yuck. |
I like both. But Tillamook has a gummy mouth feel and “chew” to it, while H-D has a dense and richer taste and silkier mouth feel. H-D is clearly the higher end ice cream. |
We prefer Tillamook over all the others. |
