Given that US Club Soccer, USYS and AYSO have aligned on this topic of going back to school year (9/1-8/31), ECNL will support. This will happen for the 26/27 seasonal year in order to give everyone a chance to prepare.

I hope this helps. I am sure we will communicate this more formally in the coming months.

Did that email go to all ecnl directors or just your buddy.

He reached out which is why he got a response. They will send something out to everyone in a few months.

My ECNL Director buddy said he was told to plan for ECNL/ECRL showcases to be by graduation year for 25/26 as a transition step.

This makes too much sense not to happen. It also puts a lot of pressure on GA and MLSN to follow suit for their college showcases, which in turn puts pressure on them to then consider the switch for league play. I'd almost be surprised if this isn't announced the moment every club is done with tryouts.

This makes sense but wow what a bomb that would be to drop on players/families.

Not happening. My kids ecnl team has 7 out of 17 trapped players. Nice thought, but no way that’s happening.

It's hardly a bomb. US Club Soccer has said 100% that the registrations will be by SY in 26/27. They've also been transparent that there will be a transitional period in 25/26 - which was the whole point of needing to wait 18 months. If you sign up for USCS/ECNL in 25/26, being surprised about the transitional rules is just code for I want to wide the BY concept as long as possible.

we need 2 stable and solid girls and boys leagues. however, in a fight to grow they are taking a staggering amount of low level clubs all in the name of money and areas of coverage. not all areas in the US should have a GA or ECNL conference. it seems like GA is forcing and RL is forcing it creating all these new conferences.

there are teams in for example some ECNL conferences who only win 1, 2 or no games in their conference but go to the showcase and win their games or at least a few. some conferences are so top heavy but the bottom level competes well with other ECNL clubs around the country.

It’s insane how many meetings they have about something so simple…next year, if you are born between 9/1 and 8/31, you play soccer with this assigned age group that most likely correlates to your grade. Done. Now that so many areas of the country have hosted tryouts and filled rosters, ECNL is not dropping that bomb. It seemed so simple…how do all
these players have to wait well over a year when a lot of them won’t be playing on the same team.

Yeah no surprise about SY 26/27 that is a fact. I hope you are right about the transition period in 25/26. But is nothing is said till after tryouts would be a bomb even if a small one.

All they need to do is allow it, not force it, and then the clubs can handle the numbers as they see fit. Your club may simply elect not to move kids for the showcase if they can't figure it out, but others would.

You need to wait for the ECNL 25/26 rule book. ECNL can do nothing or extend their trapped players to all age groups. BY and SY's parents just have different perspectives on what ECNL will do for 25/26. We should know it in 2 months.

Agreed it would be a small bomb. More like a mortar or grenade.

most parts of the country have tryouts in May, only a minority of the country has had any tryouts for fall of 2025 already. So it wouldn't be too disruptive if an announcement came now. If ECNL waited until June, that would create some chaos.

This is basicaly a Gap year for everyone to figure out the roster for next season. My sons team is already looking at 2014's to add to the trapped 13's on his squad. They are going to play up the 14's next season and that will be the team going forward.

Every age group is doing the same.
