The current issue is people are assuming ECNL is going to make concessions and change early, which they are not. They are losing players because of the wait time and lame duck year. We’ll hop over to GA until they officially change to School Year in 26/27.

sure pal. "well hop over to GA" ...give me $100 on things that won't happen. lmao GA hats

If anything, GA has left their future plans more uncertain, which is a turn off. If you go to an ECNL or USYS club, you at least have some idea of what you'll face in 26-27.

We made the move to a MLSN2 team for next year and I'm hoping they stick with BY (we are q4) so we don't get moved around again the year after.

Even they stay BY the possibility of you getting moved around is there. Does your club have a MLSN tier 1 team?

If I understand correctly, it sounds like the MLSN Tier II stuff starts at U13 - is that correct?

If so, in what league(s) will these clubs' U11-U12 kids play? Asking for Boys side.

Yes they start at U-13. That is the big question, I know that MLS has their go youth program, it looks like they group two age groups together and it is coed so I have no idea what they intend to do with that league. It is a low entry point league where they want friends to play together, I guess if you group two age groups together you most likely will be with kids in your own grade. It does not seem like it is a direct feeder league to MLSN as it is nowhere near as competitive as US Club orgs.

Given that US Club Soccer, USYS and AYSO have aligned on this topic of going back to school year (9/1-8/31), ECNL will support. This will happen for the 26/27 seasonal year in order to give everyone a chance to prepare.

I hope this helps. I am sure we will communicate this more formally in the coming months.

Did that email go to all ecnl directors or just your buddy.

He reached out which is why he got a response. They will send something out to everyone in a few months.

What could take so long? Pretty simple if you ask me?

My ECNL Director buddy said he was told to plan for ECNL/ECRL showcases to be by graduation year for 25/26 as a transition step.

Considering the ECNL roster already has 20+ players, I'm not sure how current players treat the newcomer. Just rip the bandaid.

Don’t know anything about it. He was just asking if ECNL will adopt the new age changes.

Playing graduation year for showcases should have been done years ago. The whole purpose of a showcase is college recruitment, the results of the game don’t matter. It really only impacts 2-3 age groups and is designed to showcase players who have not yet committed. Players who have committed play less (just to keep the level high to allow uncommitted players to look good) or don’t even go. A few Q4s will filter down with the appropriate GY. Most clubs shouldn’t have a team culture issue with this.

Yes, but that level of commitment exceeds our interest, we could be bounced from the club instead more likely after a year.

Not sure why they are adjusting showcases then it will be just for the spring or whatever else. They just need to do it in whatever way they have to around registration to make it work for a year. If they were to just wait a whole year to do anything seems like a wast.
