Any other Lafayette parents disappointed by the lack of class lists?

We were really looking forward to seeing who DS would be in class with. I guess we'll see on Friday?

You can't wait until Friday?

Why wouldn't they just send it with the teacher email today?

Either they are still finalizing it or they don't want feedback from the parents.

It does feel like they’re giving us no time to see the class lists before school starts to avoid any sort of feedback. Not really the trust in parents that I would have hoped to see.

It’s not a class list for high income families if there isn’t an opportunity to lobby for changes.

This is whack. Can’t you just text your kids’ friends’ parents? Like what type of “feedback” are you planning to provide?

Well, we don’t even know the class sizes. I don’t know the other kids in the class… This seems like info we should be provided ahead of time.

We've never been given class lists, just our individual assignments. Once class assignments are emailed out a parent starts a google sheets doc and we crowdsource the list. Once the school year starts the Room Parents send out a list with parent contact info and such.

I guess they've learned from experience that they can't "trust the parents" to not start complaining, and they don't want to deal with it.

Seems reasonable to me.

Why should you get it ahead of time?

Exactly. Your fellow parents are the problem.

At Eaton, we don't know anything until Friday.

My child is in high school and for his entire school career we’ve gotten lists the Thursday or Friday before school starts. Why do you need to know? Carpooling can be done without a class list (you know kids are going to the same school). If your kid has social anxiety or something necessitating knowing early you can write the school. But it’s kind of the norm to get this last minute.
