We have a smallish primary bath, and I would like to add a pedestal sink - nice one with wide counters (Kohler, maybe with chrome legs if budget permits). Storage would be in the medicine cabinet.
Currently there is a very dated peach granite countertop with a dark wood vanity - no storage. Views? Thanks! |
| I would go with more storage. |

I personally love them. Put one in a small bath and a storage cabinet next to it. It works really well for that space.
They're classic. |

Absolute no for me.
They have been out of style for a while Plus the no storage is a big deal. |
| I hate them. Such a waste of space, especially in a small bathroom. Maybe one of those (ugly) belly bowls if you are really desperate for space. |
| No, would not like. You need storage in the primary bath. |
|
I would never want a pedestal sink with no storage in a main bath.
Get something with storage! |
| That sounds pretty but the lack of storage sucks. I hate ours and will switch it out eventually. |
| If you can add storage built-in between the studs, then this is a good idea. Otherwise, no, because storage is a must. |
| I vehemently hate pedestal sinks. They are impractical and ugly. |

Another no vote on pedestal sink. No storage and you can actually see the connectors. They look much cleaner in a showroom or online than they do in person.
But the biggest is the no storage. I can't imagine not having as much storage as possible in a primary bathroom. I had one in a rental and had to put all our stuff in the linen closet outside of the bathroom. |
| We put pedestal sinks in two of our three 1960s era bathrooms and it was a bad idea. Not only is the lack of storage a problem, but the countertop space is disappointing. We've already replaced one in a refresh and will get rid of the other when we redo that bathroom. |
| I have one in our powder room, but I like the storage provided under vanities in my main bathroom. Do you have a cabinet or linen closet in the bathroom where you can keep things like your hair dryer, brushes, makeup, extra TP, tampons/pads/liners, extra hair products, etc.? |
| Noooo don’t do it, medicine cabinets are not enough storage for a primary bath. |
| I love a pedestal sink and wouldn't hesitate. I'd just be clear beforehand on where you'll store larger things that don't fit in the medicine cabinet. I have a linen closet right outside my bathroom that works fine for storing cleaning stuff, TP, and towels. |
