Northern VA athletes have had a big day! Torri Huske picked up her third gold by anchoring the record setting relay team and Noah Lyles got the 100m gold!

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone for the 400m hurdles. Femke Bol will give her a run for her money but I think Syd will pull it out.

Also looking forward to Yared Nuguse (1500m), Lyles again in the 200 (can he pull off the double?), and Mondo Duplantis in the pole vault.

I’ve also gained a new appreciation for steeplechase. Never paid close attention to it until the last Olympics but now I’m a fan.

Great race. Had Thompson won, track fan world would be gossiping about him being doped. Note I am not making any allegations, but this is the talk around the Jamaican team for 16 years.. The way of the world these days. (Doping was just amping up when I competed in 1980).

Lyle’s’ best event is the 200. You can bet NBC will pump that event for all that it is worth.

I have such a crush on Kerley! Everyone at the start line was hyping themselves up to the camera. Then the camera pans to Kerley and he’s stock-still with his eyes shut and totally calm, like a lizard in the sun. It was so bad@$$ and I’m thrilled for his bronze!

He went to Alexandria City HS. A kid from Woodson broke one of his records this year at the districts meet and it was cool. He is an amazing athlete.
