My wife and I are TTC and I have pretty low volume, like less than a mL. It used to be higher when I was younger (especially before 25). Any common reasons for this? I’m not that old, just turned 32. My lifestyle isn’t the healthiest but I do exercise regularly and don’t smoke at all. I drink about a 6 pack of beer every weekend. Sleep schedule could be better. I eat mostly home cooked meals with daily vegetables, occasional restaurant or fast food place. |
Stop drinking (completely), start eating walnuts, chia seeds, hemp hearts, etc, get Zinc supplements if necessary, drink more water, start to exercise very regularly and fix your sleep schedule. And don't eat out if you can avoid it.
You'll be alright. Of course people conceive while negating all of the advice above, but given your concerns you might want to try strict adherence. |

Have you had your testosterone level tested? You may need an IUI procedure if this is a concern. |
Are you ____ too much? |

Walnuts? What's wrong with eating out? |
Also, have MD check DH for a vericocele. |
CoQ-10 can help with sperm health. But it won’t do much to increase semen volume, which is what OP was asking. |

Have you had a physical and a prostate exam? My DH was on a medication that caused low volume, but it was not an impediment to getting pregnant, as our youngest child will bear witness to that. |
Zinc is your friend as well. Pretty soon she’ll be able to tell when your walnuts are swollen. |
How much and which zinc is recommended? My understanding is that over 100 mg can be dangerous and different formulations of zinc have different bioavailability. |
DP. True. Also, be careful with minerals such as zinc, iron, calcium (all 3 are metals at the elemental level; of course formulations of them are in the supplements we take). Unlike vitamins, the minerals interact with one another and can really throw off the others if taken in too high a dose. Also, no one has really addressed OP’s question about increasing DH’s volume (other than good hydration beforehand). |
If you know you have low volume, presumably you're TTC'ing under the care of a doctor? Ask him/her what you should be doing. |
