Yes, I know many wealthy people couldn't care less about cars and I know 'millionaires next door' drive under the radar pickups and Hondas. I don't want anything obnoxious, just respectable and rung above normal, if that makes sense? Leaning towards BMW X5 or Porsche Macan, both about around a $65k base MSRP. Anything less expensive than that?

Why tho?

Lexus RX crossover, possible to get a new one discounted into the high 40s? |
I know you're going to looks, but please also consider ease of maintenance. Do your research to find out which models are duds right out of the factory. |
Porsche too showy. BMW is conventional status pick. |
I know a lot of fairly wealthy people who drive a Tesla Model Y and those sell in the 40s new. I think the Model Y might be the cheapest car that projects a relatively high SES. Also have to own your own home to charge the thing, right. But the current generation is a bit dated and due for a refresh. |
To me, a luxury brand is not just "a rung above normal" but definitely exhibits success and status. Go for a BMW over a Porsche (it may exhibit success, but it also exhibits dbag energy).
Maybe an Acura MDX is cheaper? Or a Lexus as another PP suggested. Or maybe a Volvo? I would personally opt for a new VW Atlas or a Toyota Grand Highlander for the same effect. |
Audi Q5 is less, but probably a little less flashy too. A Volvo might also be less expensive. |
Porsche often reads as trying to hard, as opposed to comfortably successful. |
I judge any Porsche that is not a sports car |
Not owning a car at all is the best brag. |
A chevy tahoe |
Just remember that every driver everywhere of a BMM is a penis with pickle breath. Everyone hates them, judges them and thinks they're jerks. There's a lot of stigma to driving a BMW that you don't find with other cars (except maybe a Porsche -- those tend to be driven by men in midlife crises with tiny penises that haven't been wet in a while because their wives detest them -- so along with the stigma, there's a fair amount of SMEGMA.).
For my money, get an Alfa Rome Giulia. Exotic enough, signals money to burn. Or, lease a Maserati. They're actually cheap, relatively speaking. |
You're trying too hard. |
Don’t do the Macan. Need to go up to Cayenne, but that really bumps up price tag.
I would go to dealerships and really look at the price tags. Of everything listed above I would go with the x5 |
