Colleges with Frats that don’t drink

We are just starting to look at schools for my son. He is a good student who likes sports and the idea of being in a frat. He doesn’t have brothers and likes the thought of brotherhood. He does not drink and will not due to medication. I wonder if it is possible to be in a fraternity when you are not a partier? He will be a business major most likely. He is currently an A- student and has taken SAT 1480 but will take again. Will have a total of 8 AP for graduation. We are not looking at Ivy league as looks like these stars will not be enough. Thank you

This isn't something that exists anywhere, even on supposedly dry campuses. Maybe a service fraternity?

All frats have drinking. That's kind of the point of a frat.

Would your son be interested in the military/ROTC? This is not a joke---it's a similar cultures of fraternity/brotherhood.

All frats have drinking, but many have members who don't drink. Mine did back in the day.

Similar to ROTC, he might consider the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M or VTech.

You can 100% be in a frat and not drink. Not ALL frats - there are some douchey ones - but he’ll find one.

Or try a school w residential college housing?

Service fraternity: Alpha Phi Omega is a coed one , but there are others. Some colleges have academic fraternities too. There are plenty of non-drinkers in both of these cohorts

Sure it does. Have a kid at Williamand Mary who is in a frat where some don’t drink, its fine. Cousin at UChicago is in a “regular “ frat and does not drink

This is OP. This is nice to hear. My son has no issue being around drinking. Again he takes medicine that does not allow for drinking and that is life and he is fine with this.

Drinking isn't as prevalent among college students as it was for their parents generation. Lots of students don't drink. Weed use is way up though.
