Travel sports parents are some cold-blooded a--holes

Title says it all . . . think only about themselves. Our club is basically imploding b/c a couple of families decided to leave and recruiting players to go with them. You may be thinking "well, they can do better elsewhere" but their older kids have all been recruited -several at D1- and the youngers are on the path to do so, as well. THey've been promoted by the club, given every opportunity, highlighted on SM, etc. etc. etc. And now their leaving b/c the club allegedly didn't do enough for them. They've been with the club 6+ years. Screwing all the friends/teammates they're leaving behind.

It's ice water in their veins. Damn.

meh, they wouldn't be leaving and people wouldn't be going with them if there was no reason. After an offer is in hand, the tolerance for ahole coaches plummets

I've never been in their situation, OP, but it's weird you're feeling so resentful. It's a children's sport. People come and go. Families can't adjust their entire schedule just to suit YOU. You are taking this way, way, too seriously.

You, my friend, are the reason why people stay away from travel sports. Not these other families.

Try as you may to believe that, friend, I'm actually not. But draw what you will from an anonymous post w/o all the facts.

You must be one of our teammates' parents.

And then they get to college and discover an athletic scholarship means $1,000 in books.

So people are leaving your team and did not invite your child to go with them?

Agree that it's tough when a chunk of players leave the team, but that's the nature of the beast. It's never fun to be on the left behind side of the team, but there's always the chance you'll pick up players who are a better fit with your kid/remaining players.

This is the real issue.

Awwwww, you got me. This is the real issue for my college committed player.

Try again.

If your kid is already committed what’s the big deal?

I’ve always felt so bad for travel sport parents…it usually amounts to nothing.

Half my kids rec team left to do travel this fall. My kid wants to do other sports as well as this one so we’re sticking with rec. it’s not that serious OP. Paying the thousands you pay for travel is nuts if it’s not working for you. I’d want the best for my kid if I was paying all that.

There are so many travels teams - you have to know which ones are the good ones. Just making a travel team these days really means nothing.
