| My husband says he learned this from a work colleague. Lately when we are seated and order drinks and apps, he will order our drinks, apps, and also request that a second round be brought out with the apps. He says he’s making it easier on the server. But it just seems like he wants to quickly suck down his first cocktail and have it swooped away and a fresh one arrives with apps ten or so minutes after sitting at the restaurant. If nothing else it feels a bit tacky to essentially double order booze right when we’re seated? |
| I don’t think two cocktails when you’re eating out makes him an alcoholic. I don’t see the issue. |
| Obviously it makes you uncomfortable, but I understand where he’s coming from (consolidating the order). |
| It seems overindulgent, certainly. Whether it rises to the level of alcoholism depends on how much he drinks and how he feels when he can't get a drink. |
No, but if EVERY time you go to a restaurant, he is preoccupied with making sure the drinks are coming quick, it suggests he's thinking about it too much. It's definitely tacky. BUT it's also practical (if he's not an alcoholic). Some restaurants are terrible about getting back for followup drinks. |
Neither but you sound like you’re tightly wound. I used to work in food service. I’m built to order efficiently. It’s why my kid is halfway through his meal when I order mine. |
|
Can we please, for the love of God, stop using the word "tacky" for everything that we personally don't like?
Also, talk to your husband. No one else cares. |
|
Would you normally order 2 drinks anyways? If yes, I don't see the problem. Honestly, I think it's kind of smart actually lol.
That said, I usually like to try whatever I'm having first before ordering another, but if its something that you regularly order *shrug* doesnt feel like alcoholism. Or tacky either. |
| So he drinks two alcoholic drinks for the whole meal? |
|
|
|
I mostly drink champagne by the glass at restaurants in Hawaii.DH wants different drink, don't want bottles.
I get my first glass and then sometimes tell them I will have another when the app comes. Because it's something like oysters that I want cold champagne with and don't want to save my half glass getting warm in the sun. |
| How would he react if you had an alcohol free meal? |
| By the time they come with your apps and you order another then you’re drinking that with dinner. As long as he’s stopping at 2 or 3 and not driving I don’t see the issue. |
| I would hate that. |
| Are you ready for a second one then? |
