Good English Muffins?

Anonymous
Does anyone have info regarding where to get some good bakery English muffins? I’m not a big fan of the grocery store aisle ones full of preservatives. So not interested in Thomas’s, or anything like that.

And I’m pretty sure this is beyond my meager baking skills.

I like the Stone and Skillet brand from Fresh Market or Whole Foods. They are more dense than the typical store brands.

I make the King Arthur Flour recipe, and it’s really not hard! So much better than store bought.

The Whole Foods 365 English muffins are pretty good
Much better than Thomas, at least

Take a little bit of time, but the recipe makes quite a few and they’re far superior to store bought. The recipe itself is very simple.

Agreed. I can get at least 18 XL muffins from a batch. They freeze well, too. I make them on my electric griddle.

It looks like King Arthur removed the exact recipe I use from their website! But here’s a copy on another blog:

I've ordered them shipped to my home from this place and they are great.

Extra tip - the Oathaus granola butter is sooo yummy.

A little bit more time? There is a 2 hr rise. Then you have to cook them on a griddle 10-15 min, per side. How many can even fit on the griddle? Mine could probably do 8. So that’s almost an hour of cooking standing at the stove, babysitting them, after the longish rise. I keep wanting to make them, but the time is an issue.

Dave's Killer English muffins and Ezekiel English muffins are good store bought options.

You realize you don’t have to hover over them when they’re rising?
