Thoughts on the loss of the boarding program now? Is this another harbinger of doom. Or truly tying off the bleeding for the day program’s stability. |
Tying off the bleeding. 100% |
It seems like a good development for the school and the day program, though I feel for the boarding students and their parents. I sincerely hope the funds go toward retaining the school’s fantastic teachers and staff! And avoiding tuition increases. |
I don’t see how this results in any added funds - there will be some reduced maintenance costs for the buildings that will now be empty and presumably they get to layoff dorm employees but that savings will be offset in part by the loss of revenue of all the dorm students that will now apply out and school has to pay to house those that remain at the space that they say is a mile from campus. |
Not to mention that this adds to the “sinking ship” vibe that will contribute to higher attrition next year. Here’s hoping the HOS candidates are impressive so rebuilding can start sooner than later. You cannot have a successful school that’s just run by board of volunteers, as is the current posture. |
Current US family here. It's a "righting the ship" vibe, and the boarding program was negatively impacted by covid. Financial and staff resources should focus on the day program. I do feel bad for those who are affected by it. I'm glad there is a way for the current boarders to stay at the school. The letter was clear about the school's focus and goals. |
It’s a sinking ship. While I think it’s a step in the right direction to eliminate the boarding program, there will be another elimination of a program soon. This school does not have long-term viability. At all.
I bet they own the house RG lived in. Wonder if that’s where they will house the boarders. They may put the new head in the house vacated by the former MarCom director. Or … maybe they stop housing people and rent those houses out for money. |
As soon as they take our tuition in December, it will not reopen in January. Rodney ruined the school ….. |
Calm down yall. Its the right move. |
I’m waiting for the 10% tuition increase email to drop day after winter break starts. |
I’m yet to feel righting of the ship vibe. I’m really trying but… not even close |
??? Anyone? |
I’d be shocked if this happened. |
It may be a step to take to stop the hemorrhaging, but a confidence building move to calm things down this is not. |
Well they had a 5% then 7% then 6% in the last 3 years. Oh the one hand is there any doubt they need 10%? No. However yes it would shutter the school if they actually did that since no one would re enroll. So I agree not likely to happen. But doesn’t mean the school is in great shape by any stretch of imagination. |
