Give me a break. It does not take a full season to figure out a club’s style of play. If it does, then your DD’s field hockey IQ is zero. |
New poster here. I feel I must point out that you asked for that kind of response. The way you described lower D1 prgrams that your D3 team supposedly destroyed? Didn’t happen. You came across as someone with a massive chip on your shoulder. And if your kid truly turned down a top academic D1 for a NESCAC, I guess I can see why. |
This. That U16 team has a couple of strong players. They are how U19 won this weekend. |
It will be fairly obvious from the get go if a club plays a different style. It does take some players longer to adjust to a new style than others. Some kids can pick up a new press in a day and others take a season. Maybe The OPs kid needs longer. Until she figures it out, she won’t play as much. Even when she figures it out she may not play as much if the other player is better. I’m not sure what the OP expected. For her kid to get the starting spot or split time? |
This forum is ridiculous. So much blame and deflection. It's the club's fault - disorganized. It's the coaches fault - they show preferential treatment. It's the field's fault - too many crappy grass fields in the DMV, not enough turf. It's the guest player's fault - stealing DD's precious minutes. Etc, etc. The bottom line is it's up to the player. If they are good enough, none of this stuff matters. If they are not, the blame game will continue... |
+1. She came across exactly as the type of person who claims they got a 'full ride' at a D3 school. Which does not exist. D3s throw 'merit money' at anyone and everyone. If her kid could play D1 she would. But she can't. |
NP. I’ll add to this that, most parents are unable to fairly judge their child’s ability and think they are better than they are. Most parents also don’t understand the game and assume what their child is doing is correct, when it may in fact be wrong. Parents also don’t understand that the game progresses as kids get older. The movements and passes that worked when players were u12 won’t work at u19. Players need to evolve. |
I just heard of a new club called DMV Prime. I heard it was founded by former Jackals/St.James Field Hockey coaches. Has anyone heard of this new team before? |
Maybe it’s rebranding of Jackles because they have never had a good reputation. MMalik Stars is also advertising for winter tryouts. They have been around but I believe were out of MD and never really took off. |
Damn. NESCAC over D1 any day. Better education and isn’t that the whole point. Go D3! |
Geez, I hope it’s not a rebrand of Hussel. Otherwise, no thank you. |
I just saw St.J/Jackals post on IG for RCCs. I noticed they're rebranding to St.James rather than using the Jackals name. Haven't heard of DMV Prime. Think more clubs in the area is a good thing, imo. SC Elite is also new in NoVa. |
Is this associated with DMV Prime Sports Academy? Think its mostly a flag football club so would be surprised if they're related but could be. |
DMV Prime is not a rebrand of Husel of Jackals. It is a new club by former Jackal's coaches looking to create a competitive team. |
Yes I've heard about DMV Prime - a new team forming for the 2026 season run by some of the former St James Jackals coaches. Sounds like it may be organized by the person who founded the Jackals. Not sure if it's affiliated with another area sports organization called DMV Prime. It will be Bethesda-based and play in the HoCo league. They don't have a website that I've found but expect they will have something coming soon. |
