OIG finds that MCPS violated its own policy in hiring communications firm on emergency basis during Beidleman scandal.

No surprise there. It says a complaiant reported it based on sloppy response to an MPIA request. Think it was Parents Coalitino or Moderately MoCo who made the request?

Glad this is on the record. Everyone knew this emergency contract was BS.

So that’s $210,000 wasted for this particular contract, but I’m sure there are many others. MCPS needs to follow protocol now that people are more comfortable reporting their misdeeds.

The past year in MCPS feels like we must be living in a season of The Wire.

Why? Nothing happens to them except that next year they get more money to waste.

And yet despite this waste MCEA insists taxpayers must “fully fund” every budget request or else we’re evil. Make it make sense.

$ could have been used to hire staff who can manage bathrooms in HS so ALL bathrooms can be unlocked. Ridiculous that bathrooms are locked.

Any $ could have been used for safety security and better education.

This. No one should be arguing anything except audit, audit, audit.

MCPS has already been audited for crap like this and they continue to do what they want. The last audit showed many issues including the lack of documentation for losing contract bids and lack of daily inspections on school construction projects.

They do these audits all the time. Recently there was another anti-racist audit even. They just cost $$$ and have 0 impact but they can claim they did it.

Not some social justice audit. An actual financial audit.
