To be fair, I was planning to take my kids on vacation that weekend anyway giving the ridiculous alignment of days off. I guess APS is acknowledging that we're all skipping these days?

Maybe I'm not paying enough attention, but why aren't these days part of the calendar acceptance process?
A 5 day weekend in November is pretty obnoxious. It was amazing to me this spring, when we had mostly 5 day weeks the end the year, how much EASIER it was to keep my kids in the groove. I didn't realize how awful all those 3 and 4 day weeks were. I thought it was nice to "get a break" but it's really just keeping them from hitting their stride because they are off more than on. |
It's for required trainings from the state for reading
some people will complain about anything! |
I'm curious as to why they couldn't just make the 2-days of Thanksgiving week the two training days for teachers and the students have the 5 days off. Far better than so many frequent long breaks. I agree with above commenter about getting back into the rhythm of school with frequent breaks. |
Whatever APS proposes is, more than likely, dumb. |
Probably too many teachers planning to take those days off. |
All the more reason for students to have those days off, then. |
Thanks, Youngkin.
Shittiest governor ever. |
Gonna be a spike at Disney that weekend!!! |
Oh yeah...def... |
Just don’t have any school in November |
Carribbean here I come |
There will still be HS tryouts that week for winter sports, so we won't be headed anywhere. |
This is nothing new. It's always been "No school November". |
APS BLOWS!! |
