| Youngest DS is in MS and shows zero romantic interest/crushes or whatever you want to call it. Happy playing sports and running around with his “bros.” I’m not concerned but just curious at what age boys start noticing girls (or boys) because at his age my DDs were totally boy crazy. |
| Mine is 14 and already has a “girlfriend”. I’d prefer he not be as interested so early! |
|
Mine started in middle school. 12-13
I think there is a huge range of normal. He could be interested and also just feel not equipped to do anything about it. |

DS is 12.5 in 7th grade and sounds like yours, no interest in girls, running around with his buddies who also have no interest in girls.
Or so I thought. About a month ago he admitted he'd had a crush on a girl since 6th grade! So he may have crushes but be embarrassed to talk to you about it. |
| Mine son is 13, rising 8th grader. Currently zero interest in anyone romantically. He's overwhelmed by all the constant talk about labels, sex, gender, etc. and says he just "wants to wait". |
| Um my DS had no interest in girls, until one day when he was 16 and said, hmm I think I want a girlfriend. So he got one lol. He's still not really "girl crazy" at age 21. |
Mmm hmmm. |
| Mine is 14 now and I know he had a crush on a girl last year, but he didn’t tell me about it at the time. That said, I don’t think he’s interested in actually dating yet. |
| Ahh that #boymom responses never disappoint LOL |
| My DD was talking about crushes in 5th grade but my DS is still goofy running around in 6th. As PPs said it's a wide range but your observation is correct in general that girls tend to develop a bit earlier and have crushes (and hormones) sooner but they all eventually get there... hopefully later! |
| DS was around 13-14. My nephew was closer to 16 when he realized he was interested in guys instead. The 13-16 years he told me he didn't get why his friends liked boobs and all that. And around 15 he started realizing that the way his friends talked about girls was the way he felt looking at guys. |
| Around age 14, which is right when puberty kicked in for him. |
| Mine was a freshman in highschool ( 14) when he had his first major crush . |
| Mine would never tell me anything about that, but I know some of his friends have “girlfriends” in that middle school way. |
+1 I always get a good chuckle at moms of teen boys who think their kids are so innocent while most are looking at trashy porn on the daily or not on discord saying the most immature and disgusting vulgar things. |
