2033 Girls - try out for NL or MCE?

2033 tryouts for MCE and NL are at the exact same time. Which would you chooses? DD is already trying out for BLC, but we want options.

Not MCE.

Do search on forum as to why.

NL (now M&D DC). No brainer.

We have friends on all three teams and would definitely recommend reaching out to NL girls directors to see if she can get evaluated perhaps even before tryouts, and if not then prioritizing that tryout over MCE. Some insights -

BLC - Blue team has fabulous coaching and talent and won NGLL (highest level league not only in region but probably in America). The norm in club lacrosse is for what few open spots that are available on top teams to likely be filled by lateral moves already known to the coaches / parents / players. Orange teams usually have limited resources and 33 Orange is losing several good 34s to 34 Blue, so really more like a “rec plus option” in this year…

Next Level - 33 is NLs most successful and talented team other than the nationally ranked 29 squad, and finished 6-2 in NGLL with big win over M&D black, as well as a few other close games versus top teams in the scrimmages, tourneys etc. Much less experienced coaches than BLC but hearing that M&D deal will help address that. Roster is small compared to other top teams so big opportunity for new players able and willing to make a travel level commitment

MCE - advise against pursuing unless friends or location force you down this route. Some good individual coaches in the program but admin / ops infrastructure is subpar and 33 team was blown out by both the above.

Helpful summary - thanks. Are those the only three options in the area? Does Pride have a good 2033 team?

For a rising 4th grader, you cannot go wrong anywhere. The " team" will be shifting a lot between now and 9th grade. Scores do not matter, it is about getting better and having fun and all of the local clubs can provide this. Look where the best high school players played and where the best coaches are. It is not NL, becoming M&D is not going to change anything.

Huh? You seem to be contradicting yourself. You cannot go wrong anywhere, but NL is not place to be?

Are you saying to avoid Next Level? Seems incongruous with the rest of your post.

BLC blue seems like the best option but also extremely difficult to make that team. NL/M&D seems like the clear next best option at this age.

I have an older daughter so not familiar with these age groups, but as far as clubs go I would run from Next Level. They just disbanded their HS teams, pulled out of tournaments and left a ton of girls stranded with no place to play. I know that doesn't impact the age group you are asking about but it does speak volumes about the club's commitment (or lack of) to its families, especially heading into recruiting season. Lots of options at that age - you definitely don't want to burn out too early. Seen it happen many times

That’s really pathetic that they did that. If that’s true then if not BLC then better to make the drive to Stars/TSJ or Pride.

Do Stars have a 2033 team? It doesn't appear that there were Stars teams in the NGLL for either the 2033s or the 2032s. The three teams listed above do play in the NGLL at these ages, though MC Elite loses badly in every age bracket including 2033.
