Book-turned-movie I can read with DD13?

Anonymous
Looking to tandem read a book, then watch the movie with DD13.

She’s NOT into sci-fi or fantasy, so no Harry Potter or Hunger Games, please! I’d love it if it were something coming of age or having to do with a teen girl or even a teen girl and her mother, but it’s fine if not. I can’t think of a single thing. Crowdsourcing hoping someone has a great suggestion that’s not mainstream. Thanks!

Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Fault in Our Stars

These are much more modern and have some edge to them, but if DD is 13 these are age appropriate and my kids loved both of them (and we saw the movies together).

Depending on maturity level and what she’s read before:

Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret
Wonder
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
Harriet the Spy
Coraline
Heartstopper

Anne of Green Gables along with the 80s adaptation. Maybe the more modern one too? I'm not as familiar with that one.

Two TV mini-series:

Anne of Green Gables. Probably the 1980s version?

Pride and Prejudice. The TV series with Colin Firth is the best adaptation, from what I've heard.
