Thick legs

OMG, my legs are like tree trunks, no shape to them. How do I lose weight in my legs? The upper does not match the lower— so weird!

Do you have lipodemia? The only think that helped my jiggly unashapely legs was running mid/long distances. I started running 5ish miles a day and weights 2x a week and I do see a change 12 month later. Still are my worst feature but at least I’m less disgusted with myself. I am not heavy - 5’7 140 lbs but have short legs and they have always been terrible.

Are they like Hilary Clinton’s? I don’t think there is much you can do about the shape of them.

Ooof I feel ya. I’ve got thunder thighs. When I lose weight I just end up looking like skeletor on my upper body and then I still have thunder thighs. The only thing that can be done is toning them with leg exercises. If you’re anything like me they’re just going to be big no matter what, but at least they’ll be toned.

Same here, I got down under 110 lbs. My ribs and shoulder blades were sticking out but my legs were still stout. I just have thick muscular legs, they will never be slender.

I also have lipedema and have had great success with both physical therapy/special exercises and with compression garments.

It is worth looking into seeing if you think you might have it! It's very common, just not frequently diagnosed. I just thought I was fat. Now I know I'm "special fat," haha!

My body was like this even when I was 16, on the swim team, working out at least 9 times a week and eating a very healthy diet. So I've learned a little bit about accepting, doing the best I can, and not judging this miraculous body that allows me to do so many miraculous things.

All my weight goes to my thighs, even when I’m “thin” my legs are decidedly not. I just keep them as firm as possible. Biking helps me the most. And step aerobics … I still love a good Kathy Smith workout

I also have lipedema. I wish more doctors understood this condition. I’m a normal weight with much heavier legs than upper body. My mother and her mother were built the same way. I agree there’s not much you can do but eat well, maintain a healthy weight, and exercise regularly. I lift weights, walk, and do Pilates. The most important (and hardest) part for me is self acceptance.

One important thing I read about lipedema is that it’s particularly resistance to fat loss. The best course is prevention and avoiding yo-yo dieting, which causes muscle loss and fat gain.
