I am shocked..... Just saw this video of girl that attended BCC high school with 100 absence and is still graduating. she has over 80 unexcused absecnes...
Why are we passing everyone?
I am sick of this.

It unfortunate but that is how MCPS is. She probably did her work and caught up when she was behind.

Will you please leave that girl alone. You are already harassing her in the comments.

This girl should not be able to graduate. I got a letter about my son having 10 unexcused through out the year. The counselor contacted me, I explained it was mostly when he was sick. By my count, the girl has over 80 unexcused. How can she not go to school for 80 days without anyone reaching out to her parents. BCC in the center of attention, again…

My experience with this type of situation is the kid shows up the last week of school only and wants you to give them credit for the course by magically making a special packet for them to do in which they can finish in an hour or just copy the graded assignments of students that did the work. It's even worse when parents, admin, and counselors gang up to pressure the teacher with threats that their career will be damaged or they will be in trouble or if they were a good teacher the a student would have shown up/learn something etc etc. The pathetic excuses and pressure are never ending to us teachers. Many of us are easily manipulated as we just want a pay check to keep a roof over our heads and food in our stomach.

Hey teachers - never feel intimidated to tell the truth!

The state made a change regarding attendance, consequences for truancy (none), and that course grades shouldn’t be affected by attendance. In response MCPS has removed all connection between attendance and earning course credit, including E3 failure.

This. I guarantee the girl wasn’t going online and keeping up with her classes when she was absent. There are some students who do this but they aren’t the ones with 100 unexcused absences.

There is also the chance she is allowed to walk but has not yet met all graduation requirements. It’s one of the reasons they don’t pass out diplomas at the stage anymore.

What is E2, E3?

Why are you obsessed with other people's children?

Do you think that someone who can't show up for work is stealing your kid's job?

Get a life

If this is true, blow the whistle with real evidence.

Why do you think the school didn't reach out?

Why are you inventing fiction to get mad about?

Volunteer to go tutor this girl, or sit down and shut up.
Your hatred for people who are suffering is disgusting.

Thanks for this info. When did these two changes occur?

If you saw the girl in question’s post, you would know that she is not suffering. She is posting and laughing at how often she got away with skipping and faked excuses for some of her absences too.
