How many grams of fat do you consume per day?

Anonymous
According to MyFitnessPal I consumed approx 47 grams of fat today. Still over my goal of 33 grams!

What about you?

I’m blown away that you know. I wish I had time for that!

Absolutely no clue. Nor do I care. Normal weight and I eat what I want.

The only people that know this, are people that are... well, fat.

Yeah, fat is not necessarily a bad thing in your diet.

Average 40-45g/day.

I have been told no more than 10% of your total calories should come from fat.

Can I exclude the fatback and pork rinds I snack on?

I've been keeping a food diary on My Fitness Pal for the last couple of weeks. I'm focused more of fiber, but I went back and checked my fat intake. I mostly average around 50 grams per day. Some days were lower, but never below 40. Some days were up around 80 - and one particular day I apparently consumed 160 grams of fat! I think we had homemade mac and cheese for dinner that night.

Most of my fat is unsaturated, though. I only have 8-10 grams of saturated fat a day (mac and cheese night aside). I do tend to put olive oil on everything. Except for when I'm frying eggs in bacon grease.....

Fwiw, I'm 44, 5'8", 160 lbs, consuming around 1500 calories/day.

"Experts say eating less than 45 grams of fat each day can worsen the state of your mental health. Fat is essential in maintaining the cell structure of the brain's communication network; therefore, fat is necessary and needed for proper brain function and mood management."

Higher dietary fat quality is associated with lower anxiety score in women

"People who consume a diet low in fats and especially low in cholesterol are at risk for depression and suicide. Fatty acids play an important role in higher brain functions that control moods."

It’s all so confusing. A poster in the fiber thread talked about 3 daily servings of seeds/nuts. That’s 45 grams of fat right there! Haha

No clue, not something I want to track. There are also healthy and unhealthy fats. I tend to consume more healthy fats
