What surprised you most about your trip to Nantucket?

We have been all over New England except for Nantucket.

What surprised you the most when you went?

What surprised me? How boring it is.

I understand going to the Cape and islands if you live in Boston or RI. I do NOT understand making the trek from farther away if you don't have family there, a place to stay, etc.

This is my favorite part! Although I do take the fast ferry.

It is pretty boring. You have to go into it realizing the highest level of activity will be biking to Sconset for the best carrot cake of your life followed up by reading a book.

It’s not the vacation for everyone, but I love it.

Nothing really surprising about it…I think if you’ve been everywhere in New England, you can picture it. Cute little town, cute ice cream shop, expensive to eat out, preppy white families, flat trails for bike riding, decent MA type beaches. If you are expecting something other than that, I guess you will be surprised?

There's Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. One for Dems and one for Reps.

How much driving it involved. You needed to drive a lot to be able to experiebxethe island. I guess it's just bigger than I thought

Bunny Mellon could have gone anywhere for her 100th birthday and made sure she went there.

How much I needed a car. Didn't have one. Couldn't see much of the island. Went on a tour given by the island. Disappointed in that. Didn't see much or certainly not what would be the most beautiful parts of the island. Unless you have your own remote beach house, and therefore are very rich, you are not going to see what-you-think-is Nantucket.

The harbor, tourist dock area and shops were pretty nice but I was hoping to experience more.

The hype around “ACK” is really astounding. It’s unremarkable in its category aside from the hype machine.
