Mine are close:

1) consequences for lawlessness
2) attract commerce
3) attract and keep affluent residents with children (public schools need to accept affluent families as their constituents).

Similar vibe:

1) Prosecute crime

2) Invest in clean, safe public spaces including parks and plazas ("third spaces")

3) Address homelessness in a way that does not accept encampments as inevitable or acceptable (but I would support more shelters, more housing support, and more services for homeless populations)

I will also note that I care about good schools and businesses/economics too, but I actually think if you address these issues, schools will improve and businesses will thrive because there are already plenty of people in this city working to make both happen. But crime, homelessness, and public spaces are public goods that cannot be improved by just a group of concerned citizens or people diligently working on their own. They can ONLY be addressed at the government level.

1. Re-criminalize pot.

1. Effectively enforce and prosecute crime. (Addresses safety)
2. Force federal workforce back at least 3 days per week. (Addresses economic issues)
3. End home rule, district has proven they are not up to the task. (Addresses poor choices repeated time and again by DC voters)

Zero tolerance for pot use outside the home. Especially in the fu&(king Metro!

Crime, crime, and more crime. I don’t know how we actually get enough police officers for a full force, but it needs to be done. And they actually need to patrol.

So much of it boils down to getting statehood...
But in addition: better education for pk3-12, gun control (including guns from out our state), easier place to do business for restaurant and retail but especially restaurateurs

This. safety and it's TOO dirty. Went to mothers day brunch at a $$$ restaurant and watched a water bug wander up out of the sidewalk grate and into the restaurant patio. Not to mention the rats. and the filthy public toilets. and homeless discarded in the bus stops. not charming.

This is a good list too. And get cleaning in an OCD way, like singapore.

I don’t want to get into specifics, but I moved here from a liberal blue city in a liberal blue state and could not believe the low expectations and tolerance for lawlessness in DC.

It’s not just public safety. There are low expectations and tolerance for low quality public services across the board. And don’t dare complain.

1. Persuade Tony William to become mayor again.

2. Re-fund the police - by a lot.

3. Throw out the Latte Liberals on the D.C. Council.

I boarded the metro at Vienna on Thursday morning @ 9:15, walked into car and there was a person lying/sleeping on the floor in the back near the doors connecting the train cars.

It was shocking, not only because of the filth (we've all witnessed high school tourists sitting on the floor), but the person legit looked dead.
