Where’s Melania?

I think we're giving the current FLOTUS a little too much credit for intelligence. There is no nice way to say that but let's not get distracted by what is probably another symptom of unintentional tone deafness. Leave Melania alone if not out of empathy but the stark realization that we've got bigger fish to fry when it comes to this administration.

You can leave her alone if you want, if you can only hold one thought in your head at a time.

If the jacket is an FU to the press, that undermines the purpose of the trip. It suggests that she wasn't going there to try to bring some humanity - or at least reports of humanity - to the situation.

She only wore it at Andrews. Please tell me why the press chose to report it? That tells a lot. Who was at Andrews other than staff and press?

Huh? The jacket was obviously aimed at The Donald.

The press is routinely at these trips, taking photos/videos of the president and First Family coming and going. It's their job.

And it's her job to communicate messages effectively. She communicated something, that's for sure.

And since I used to be a reporter, let me make sure you understand: There is a difference between the press and the WH communications department. It's the WH communications department's job to convey the messages and info the WH would like to get out in a manner that will be convincing. It's the reporters' jobs to report information they see as newsworthy. I'd say Melania wearing a jacket that says "f*ck yalls" while visiting baby prisons is newsworthy - and you'd say so, too, given that we are still talking about it.

Yep.

And let’s be clear- she’s coming mpletely aware of what she did. I just wonder if she’s ok with how her son will be portrayed as a result of it.

I liked Melanie much more when she was missing.

I think the simplest explanation is probably the most likely.

She put it on our of frustration or to send a misguided message to her husband or to the press (unlikely she is saying "I don't care about the kids").

Or one of her handlers gave it to her to wear for some odd reason, taking advantage of her less than stellar grasp of the language.

+1 It's easier then to have the narrative that she's misguided and unhappy when you don't see her. Because when you see her, you realize she's a lot like her husband.

Probably true, she was trying to pull a teenage Helena Bonham Carter:

Problem is she's not a teenager, except maybe in education level, and that coat didn't say what she imagined. It's exactly the trouble companies like Zara and H&M get themselves in, with their slapdash google translated products.

Remember when she wore those sky high Manolos to visit the Houston flood zone. no class, no brains, minimal heart.

Why would dear leader goes to public places knowing he would be booed? He needs an adoring crowd like his political rally.

It's clear she has no interest in her role as FLOTUS and is just phoning it in.

Weather yesterday was 85 degrees. There was no need for a jacket.

Her handlers would have warned her about the jacket.

She wore the jacket anyway.

A Hollywood a-hole tweeted that Barron should be caged with pedophiles. Without any shame.

A jacket statement is tame. Go Melania.

She's the FLOTUS. Or at least she's supposed to be.
