Where’s Melania?

Anonymous
Has no one mentioned the fact that Zara is the clothing line that brought us kids concentration camp pajamas? https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/aug/27/zara-removes-striped-pyjamas-with-yellow-star-following-online-outrage

Or put Pepe the frog on a skirt. https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/04/19/fashion/zara-skirt-pepe-the-frog.html

Or put swastikas on a handbag http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7002765.stm

I mean, for someone who is ultra attentive to what and WHO she wears, just what in the world is Melania doing wearing this brand?

It is a cry for help.

This is imo the problem with the left today.

No one can appreciate a small protest or small step in the right direction.

How do you know it is a protest? If it looks like a pig, it is a pig.

And this isn't a left thing. She's telling the left FU. This is a right thing.

And her tweets and spokesperson statements indicate otherwise. Are you suggesting she’s schizophrenic?

Her tweets are entirely manufactured by her communications director and in no way do I interpret them as left leaning or sympathetic. They aren’t. Think many of us are looking for some sign of soul and conscience in this woman and are, in the absence of obvious clues, projecting a ton into the slightest statement.

That jacket was absurdly inappropriate whatever it’s intent. Whether a message to the press (is it okay now for the FLOTUS to bait the press corps?) or to the left or to the right - she should have known the jacket would be attention grabbing. Not smart.

+1. That jacket was undignified and rude. Melania seems functionally illiterate to me.

She needs to go back to hiding wherever she was when she was recovering from her plastic surgery. Every time she surfaces, she does something stupid.

Money can't buy you class. Or brains, as in Melania's case.

As well as her husband!

Whatever her intent, it was not appropriate. Surely at least one of her handlers would recognize this so I can only assume it was worn intentionally (maybe to distract from something else, as is common practice in this administration).

I really wish the president would do a little more mixing and mingling with the public like other presidents did in the past. He bills himself as a likable guy once you get to know him. I wonder why he doesn't do more natural, unplanned public events?

She doesn't have handlers. She never got around to hiring any.

Also, wasn't she going to Texas in order to try to show that this family isn't totally insensitive to and ignorant of what is actually happening at the border? She was supposed to bring some humanity to the situation? That requires...press. To spread photos and stories about her being there, acting like a normal human being who has empathy and feelings.

If the jacket is an FU to the press, that undermines the purpose of the trip. It suggests that she wasn't going there to try to bring some humanity - or at least reports of humanity - to the situation.

I have no f*cking idea why she wore that coat. I feel like we are acting like Talmud scholars trying to interpret a particularly difficult passage of the torah. F that. These people are monsters, that jacket is monstrous, this whole situation is a dystopian nightmare. Vote in November.

She only wore it at Andrews. Please tell me why the press chose to report it? That tells a lot. Who was at Andrews other than staff and press?

Huh? The jacket was obviously aimed at The Donald.

The press is routinely at these trips, taking photos/videos of the president and First Family coming and going. It's their job.

He bills himself as a little of things, and most of them prove to be false.

The entire adult Trump family is trash.

And it's her job to communicate messages effectively. She communicated something, that's for sure.

And since I used to be a reporter, let me make sure you understand: There is a difference between the press and the WH communications department. It's the WH communications department's job to convey the messages and info the WH would like to get out in a manner that will be convincing. It's the reporters' jobs to report information they see as newsworthy. I'd say Melania wearing a jacket that says "f*ck yalls" while visiting baby prisons is newsworthy - and you'd say so, too, given that we are still talking about it.
