As far as I can tell VAHD is NOT following CDC guidelines. Who is in charge of the county health dept? The Mayor? Or the State Health Dept? I can’t believe the mixed messaging we are getting. |
What rule is this? Vaccinated people don't quarantine, full stop. Postive-covid household members can isolate themselves and then the rest of the household does not need to stay home for fourteen days. |
| The problem is that "symptoms" for Covid in kids are insanely common. Kids with allergies have "Covid symptoms" every day. |
The dashboard shows that last week, hospitals were 100% full, but only 4.4% of cases were COVID. So, I’m not sure what’s straining our capacity. But, it’s now COvId right now. |
| Many ERs are packed during non Covid times. That's nothing new. |
If you miss school because you are sick, the school will call and demand you get tested. |
WhT we need is CLEAR guidelines. Students in the same class, student in a class within 6 feet, students at lunch unmasked. Unmasked band and athletics. And mostly clear guidelines for students who feel unwell. Is a rapid test enough? Does my kid need a PCR. Can I do it at home or being a test to the clinic so they can observe? Are vaxx siblings quarantined? Unvaxxed siblings quarantined? I know some of this info is out there is you dig. But, we need a clear chart on a prominent place on the website. So if my athlete is unmasked indoors and is exposed, I know what to do which my unvaxxed ES kid. It’s chaos. |
I'm just posting what is on the high school website (FCPS). It doesn't mention the vaccination exception. Maybe that is a mis-statement on their part. Seems like most of us would need to know that exception, since the majority of HS students have been vaccinated. |
The mask statement is why I give CDC no credibility. Their posters recommend cloth masks, which are approximately useless. They stop about 1/3 when not filled up with moisture and forcing air around the mask. You comfortable with 2/3 of delta? |
Hot off the presses, the latest covid report for VA. https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/content/uploads/sites/182/2021/08/COVID-19_VA_Spread_18-August-2021-1.pdf Look at p. 26 for hospitalizations. It looks like weekly hospitalization levels are about the same as they were in May. The bulk of the hospitalizations are in the 50-69 age group. |
Regardless of test location, positive tests get forwarded to the health department, and they will contact you regarding quarantine. INOVA's statements after negative tests carry no weight, and they do not report these. |
You do realize that people here don't want evidence that the sky isn't falling, right? |
So they WILL take a rapid test that has FDA EUA that I bought from Amazon and have sitting in my closet? Because I’ll pay the $12.50 not to have to sit in urgent care (where the kid could be exposed), lose a morning of work, and have my kid wait until at least the next day for clearance. AND keep an unvaxxed sibling at home while we wait. |
