SEL is simply a dog whistle for CRT.

Fox has turned their cultural warriors loose on CRT, so everything is CRT!

Stupid is as stupid does.

No, CRT is CRT. For example, a teacher saying "I refuse to teach books written by white men" is a teacher practicing CRT. Saying "whiteness is a system of oppression" is an equity division employee practicing CRT. A principal assigning Stamped, a book written with the purpose if indoctrinating kids to accept policies and practices that will discriminate against them for being white is practicing CRT.

No, that's you trying to shoehorn anything you think relates to racism into CRT.

What is Social-Emotional Learning? We toss it around without ever really discussing what it means or what sort of outcome we want from a curriculum.

https://casel.org/faqs/

SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

They're a vendor. Their definition will fit their products!

No, CASEL is a nonprofit that evaluates and recommends SEL programs, not a vendor. The vendor for the product selected by MCPS is Franklin Covey.

PP's point still remains. CASEL is all-in on SEL because it's what CASEL does.

OK...? The question asked above was "What is Social-Emotional Learning?"

Maybe the NEA knows what CRT is. They just went all in on it. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E5aPpeiUcAY_hLS?format=jpg&name=large

It's the new Boogeyman for Fox viewers but none of them seem to know what it is. They don't like it because it's premise is things aren't perfect.

it was created specifically in reaction to the growing and broad-based white support for the George Floyd racial justice movement over the summer.

Yes, Fox news started the anti-CRT campaign to knock back any efforts at redressing all the systemic racism still baked into the country's institutions.

Fox News started it because they were losing viewers...

Yep, their viewership is down 50%. They are grasping on any rage issues, just like usual to get more people to watch. All the sky is falling crap works well and hooks people into keeping the channel on all day long…

You... think that teaching kids emotional self-regulation, impulse control, and effective interpersonal skills is CRT (and hence "bad")? For real?

Everything is CRT! Fox says so.

Sitting in this training now, it sounds like a church sermon.
