It doesn't feel like vulnerability. It's more like Katie flashed her ass, and it was poopy. This criticism is not motivated by sexism. Trump authored a book about competing, jockeying for power, etc. Reviews are mixed on him too! If there are people out there that Katie hurt, like Ashleigh Banfield, this book must be a huge gift of validation and vindication to them. The emperor has been shown to have no clothes, and they didn't even have to argue it, she exposed herself all on her own. |
Have you read the whole book or excerpts on gossip sites, though? I am reserving full judgment until I read the whole thing. |
She's always been horrible. Didn't she also date a married man? And I believe she took a hit at Bader as well. |
And how many do you think applied??? She was only obligated to pick those most qualified. She wasn't racist, but you can bet Couric lies and is a narcissist. |
I thought people always knew this about her. I'm surprised at those who don't. |
Katie Couric gets the tainted legacy she deserves, and by her own hand - it's delicious.
Now I will say something nice about it. The "Couric effect" - colonoscopies increased after she did her on-air colonoscopy. She probably saved lives (but I don't actually believes she cares about anything other than her own fame). |
Yep and it really showed how she was full of S. |
I don't think it's out yet. Not gossip sites, major news sources have noted the quotes and content as the book started on its promotional rounds. Banfield's response on air was probably the first piece of feedback and its spiraled since then. I don't want to really read the whole thing honestly, her writing voice sounds childish and not that self aware...she sounds like a self absorbed bore. But I get that some people will want to. I am sure she is pleased with her book, will be gratified by the attention and will seek out her fans who will be less critical of the basic writing and overall poor professionalism. I hope it was worth it....I guess that's for her to decide. |
This is why I got out of the TV news business. You need a heart of stone to climb the ladder. It's so intense. You get no sleep. Your time is never your own. People are cutthroat and two-faced. It's a pressure-cooker. |
I always think about that line about how no one should publish anything with their name on it without their psychiatrist reading it first. A joke obviously...but it speaks to how easy it is to not see your blindspots and how when writing you are revealing yourself more deeply than you realize and I think this happened here.
Apparently, She was jealous that a woman confided in ann curry rather than her about Matt lauer. She genuinely wondered why the woman did not come to her instead and see her as a confidante. This stuck with her so much it's in the book...Yet based on her showing who she was, was this that surprising? She sounds oblivious. It's ridiculous. The women went to who she felt safest with. Other people actually have close connections that don't involve you. The egocentricity is astounding. |
Agree with all of this, and more evidence that she's a raging narcissist. Narcissists are known for being surprised when they find out that people have conversations without them. |
Her comments about Kaepernick were absolutely racist. Good thing Couric covered for her. |
This would be a very funny line if it were not sadly, true. It reminds me of the golden girls episode where Blanche is upset that their friend who is lesbian prefers Rose over her. This is the kind of thought and feeling that mature people dismiss in themselves as ridiculous and move on. That she recalls it and mentions it in the book as if it matters at all, is the self absorbed part. Ridiculous admission. |
I suspect that editors/publishers pressure them to include such details, so it gets media pick up, and they sell more books. Not saying it is right, but perhaps the reality of celebrity publishing. |
Why so defensive? RBG wasn't perfect... |
