Supposedly she is desperate to get back on TV

Ugh...her era is over, despite her seeing herself as the ultimate cool girl. She sucks.

I thought about this too and I think no one cared. Maybe some people intervened like, do you really want to do this? And she really wanted to do this. Now the publishing people know they will sell her book no matter, so what do they care. Why do you extend yourself to save Katie Couric from showing everyone her ass, if she is intent on doing so?

She certainly did take a dump on a lot of people...(maybe vomited on a lot if people is a better, more apropos metaphor considering she had a bulimia history). A lot of pent up aggression and continued envy there...maybe since retiring it had no channel for release.

She’s a duplicitous, slimy, suck-up who is desperate for attention.

Hope she spares us all and just retires.

I hope a daughter writes a book someday. Money is on the younger one.

I didn't know about the book until last night when I saw Couric on Colbert. She did not come across as likeable and it just seemed like the interview equivalent of a has been Dancing With the Stars.

Just watched--wow, she's boring.

She talked about attending a scientific conference of some sort that involved the Vatican (?) and presented it as being great that the church was beginning to think in a scientific way...um the Catholic church has deep issues, However, it is not the current evangelical church, who minimize or deny climate change or the the theory of evolution. Those are not the views of the Catholic church. ...she really is ill informed.

She's really not very bright

I preordered the book - can't wait. I'm not a big fan of Katie but I love memoirs by women - even if she's not my fave she's led an interesting life.

The bigger question is who gives a rats ass about what she is doing? She is a multimillionaire who probably pays a lower tax rate than 99.9% of the people on this forum. And married to me one of these urban professional investment banker types. Katie, just go away.

Diane Sawyer seems classier, more intelligent.

Katie's slide to obscurity starts now. Hope her personal relationships will sustain her.

+1 Agreed on Sawyer...a much more emotionally stable, self aware person. And more sophisticated, yes.
So the only bar set for women is Oprah or Martha? Katie has done remarkable things in her own right and so many of you just hate father sake of hating. It makes you feel included just to join a pile on. Sad. Guy here, btw

The last few pages of the thread have been specifically in response to the tenor of the book. One premise supports yours: That for someone who has had a remarkable career, the way she speaks about other people is surprisingly low brow, mean spirited and gossipy. Very much beneath the standard of someone of her stature and former power level. I think this thread has
little to do with piling on, as these are simply opinions.. just like she had and shared hers. If this bothers you, extricate yourself.

The way she speaks about people is low brow? It sounds like you’re describing most people on this site.

Low brow for putting down others? Hmmm. Are you describing yourself and everyone on this site?
