This was the plan all along everyones wins. SYC girls have ECNL and Mclean boys will get MLS Next. What's all the fuss about? If you're not happy then leave and go to Arlington, but Currently Arlington boys have been coming over to try out at MLS Next so now there will be available spots for you.

I do not think the plan was for McLean boys to drop ECNL and go to MLS Next. First very few would make it. Second the ECNL teams already are terrible. This will make them worse! Is Jamil Walker going to get to coach a MLS team?

Have any McLean ECNL players gotten their offers yet??

You’ve heard correctly. McLean (or what will be VUFC) plans on rosters of 30, half being dual-rostered players who will mostly play EDP and an occasional ECNL game.... go to VUFC, pay for ECNL, but get EDP. This was the case with their 06 boys team this year, but they’ll expand it to all teams next year.

nonsense

Not nonsense. 2008 and 2007 roster 20-22 with 8-10 duel roster players. They duel roster players will be evenly divided between SYC and McLean so not to impact the second teams at those clubs too much with the addition of these 4-5 players. The 2007 team will roster around 22 as well but may go a few higher. There are Hendon players that are coming over and are Discovery Players. I'm not sure if these are considered in the duel roster pot or the ECNL pot

what is a duel roster player? Is that where they fight for the spot?

It's where they promise you'll get to play in the higher level games at least sometimes. You pay the higher fees, typically don't actually get much, if any, playtime on the top team, and feel like you don't belong anywhere. And then when you DO improve, the next year they don't consider you because they'd rather have a shiny new thing anyway. Don't be fooled.

Duel roster players have ECNL cards and can practice with ECNL team. It works better if the ECNL roster is small like they do in Arlington. Those girls actually may step foot on an ECNL game field. In McLean there would need to be a dozen injuries to get ECNL game time.

If you're practicing with the first team, maybe you can help along a few of the dozen required injuries?

I believe you are referring to dual roster players. Duel roster players are different - they fight, one dies and the other gets the spot.

So we're gonna complain about 30-man rosters, have two top tier leagues (ECNL, MLS Next), and now we're going to complain about priority of top leagues? Well if there's a 30-man legit player pool, and two top leagues, wouldn't that lead to 2x 15-man rosters for top leagues?

That's only for the boys side-EDP for girls is not as good as ECNL.

And the argument from MYS parents was 'SYC girls aren't good enough to make ECNL anyways'

The McLean boys are not being offered MLS Next slots. MLS Next is for straight SYC teams, not the Virginia Union. That means SYC's 'B' team players will be getting Virginia Union ECNL roster spots.

So SYC boys are just going to flood ECNL AND MLS Next teams?
