DC now in CDC moderate range for schools - what will this mean for reopening?

It’s a shame that our leaders will not follow the science, but I expect that of them these days.

You’re not important or special.

There’s plenty of rich people with no kids who pay taxes here, or rich people whose kids go to private schools.

You can leave, the only reason people would care is so schools have time to prepare.

Maybe you can like....not care, then? Like just let people talk about their frustrations? Let people voice what their plans are, that really aren’t harming anyone, as you’ve already noted? You don’t have to read DCUM.

It's some weird attempt at shaming us into not talking. We SHOULD talk about the impacts of white flight. They are enormous. Anyone who understands the history of white flight and its effects on racial achievement gaps has reason to be concerned.

This. WTU members come on this board to try to shame parents into silence. Don't let it work. Keep emailing your principal, chancellor, mayor, and council members.

Yes you don't like the current system in a pandemic. Are you anticipating another pandemic in 3-4 years and if so do you think DCPS will have the same behavior.

Cut off your nose to spite your face. Please stop with the threats and just go.

interesting framing, calling it a tantrum when people are discussing an actual problem, what they are doing to solve it, and the potential downsides of these solutions. i hope you don't say something similar to your children when they're problem solving.

+1. The "temper tantrum" talk is WTU rhetoric. We've heard it with regard to discussions of the school closure problem all year long.

This. It's just more WTU trolling to try to shame parents who want schools to reopen.

everyone wants schools to reopen people just have different standards and methods

keep emailing whoever who won't believe you are leaving until they see your bill of sale. stop talking and start walking.

1) I'm not threatening to leave.
2) I'll keep emailing DC leadership to demand full-time in-person school.
3) WTU's "standards" keep changing and equate to schools remaining shut.
4) You damn well want schools to remain virtual so stop pretending that you're just dying to go back to work if only abc would happen, then def, then ghi . . .

Good for you. Keep advocating. When they believe it matters to voters they will do something.

Well the chancellor just tweeted that virtual schooling would be a part of the 2021/2022 school year! So let's get organizing!

I’m saw that, too. Can’t believe it.

I don't understand the justification for any use of virtual school when 80-90% of the adult population will be vaccinated by then.

I'm telling you, DCPS is going to try to remain hybrid for the 2021/22 school year. And maybe keep up with the current crap of just doing that for 20% of students.

I believe Ferebee's tweet was from DCPS leadership not the WTU.

Everyone will not get 5 days a week. I'll be making sure my students do though, no way they can do DL another year or hybrid. I can't change every classroom.

The mayor needs to loosen restrictions. NYC us getting kids back in school. Do they use 11 kids per room and 6 feet?
