Why is Peloton so great?

Someone sounds jealous the cool mom club can afford Pelotons and she can't.

So instead you like to come on the Peloton threads and tell everyone how much better you are than them because you are too cool for Peloton. Right.

I could buy one but it seems like a waste of money to me since I already have an elliptical and home gym set up. It's basically a really expensive social club, is it not?

I'll add this one as obnoxious too. PP is being an ahole but so are you. It is not just a really expensive social club, its a high quality exercise bike that has an app that provides tons of content and a serious competitive gamification component that successfully motivates many people. When I bought one I didn't know a single person that had one. Now I know a few other friends who have hopped on the wagon but when we talk it is not about the peloton.

If you aren't interested that is fine.

God if someone cannot afford a peloton or doesn't want one, they are fine. If someone wants a peloton and enjoys the peloton, they are fine. If you are someone who feels the need to mock people who can't afford them or if you are someone who wants to crap on people for finding something that helps them, then you are are a piece of crap.

Owning a Peloton is like being a vegan. EVERYONE is going to hear about it.

But it is HIGH QUALITY. I like to buy expensive things and tell everyone about how awesome they are, go to facebook groups where we can talk about our awesomeness, and post a zillion threads on DCUM about my expensive awesome bike, because everyone that has one also wants to talk about and the poors that don’t have one want to hear about how awesome my bike is

There is often a lot of misogyny behind the anti-Peloton posts. Many of them are the same male road bikers who hate women bikers. I'm a woman road biker and I know the type.

CrossFit is like this too. Can be cult like too. I am in the Peloton camp myself but I am happy for the CrossFit people if it helps them stay healthy and sane. Peloton keeps me healthy and sane.

My friend bitches about Peloton and how it's a cult. She has never been on one or tried it out. I think she speaks out of jealousy because her finances aren't the best. I let her go ahead and say it, doesn't hurt anyone.
Anonymous
Haha I feel slightly ashamed of my Peloton and would never tell the neighborhood moms about it.

JK I'm not really ashamed of it but I would never talk about it with the neighborhood moms. That would be like talking about your new car, or something.

I don’t think this is the reason. I don’t own the bike or the tread (have other brands of both—11-year-old tread and Sunny bike) but I am really into Peloton. Try to keep up with streaks, earn badges, etc. I don’t talk about it all the time with non-Peloton people, and I don’t join power zone type things but I must say they do a great job of getting people to love exercise when they didn’t used to. It’s gamification of fitness and the social aspect. This applies even if you don’t buy their equipment and only use the app.
