Libby's family would be aghast at her if they were still alive.
Also, a quick persual of their site would suggest the only POC to ever visit were (i) the slaves who built the place and (ii) some of the catering staff. If there weren't good reasons to cancel these fools before, there sure are now. |
The 2nd link doesn’t work. |
Yes, it does. |
Works for me, and pretty gross to post slave quarters as a country getaway spot. Oh walking distance to wineries! Yay. https://www.vrbo.com/4656397ha?_branch_match_id=562624256501194873&adultsCount=1&oc=vzcBuFayNlCdRFCxdhRve&utm_campaign=earned%3Avrbo%3Ashare%3AXXX%3AUS%3Aios&utm_content=4656397ha&utm_medium=social&utm_source=direct |
This is an interesting case because the ferry closure by the very wealthy descendants of plantation owners would unite both POC and the Trump-voting working class whites who rely on the ferry for quick transport between two rural communities. The Rust-Brown family made a lot of enemies with this move. Also, I’m not sure if her family “would be aghast.” Libby’s mother is the one who initiated the lawsuit in 2009. It seems that the Rust-Brown clan really just wants to be rid of the ferry as piece of their anti-development agenda. |
That really doesn't make sense. The alternative to a ferry is going to be a bridge, not "giving up." A bridge will allow more development. |
| We need a bridge! 15 isn't really conducive to it. 28 would be ideal |
The bridge won’t be placed there. I guarantee it. The Rockland owners will end up with reduced traffic and a private boat launch on the Potomac |
See, this aligns with what the Rockland owners want. They don’t want any development on the 15. My guess is that they are trying to get ahead of this issue and by closing the ferry, they force Maryland to the table. Rockland folks know a bridge will eventually come, but they’d rather be on another route far away from their 600 acres |
Tear down their slave farm and build it right to the 15. Serves them right. |
And to call them “tenant” quarters. Oh slaves were just tenants? Who knew?! 🙄 |
A quick search online of old maps of Loudoun County show where the original (Conrad’s) ferry crossing was located. It was a few yards upstream from where White’s Ferry is located today. |
| A few yards meaning 6ft? Or 600ft? |
Thanks. That one works, yea gross. |
