Gift for first period?

Look up menarche gifts/ceremonies. We had one for a friends daughter and it was absolutely beautiful. Plus so much cheese.

Seriously? What about the smell?

Embarrassing. Nope. Didn’t read the thread. It’s a nope.

Sometimes I realize how off my childhood was. When I got my period I was 13. My mom was away on a business trip so my dad took me to the store to get pads. I had no idea what to get so he talked me through the different types of products. He bought me pads, tampons, and pantylines. He told me to start with the pads, and to talk to my mom about the rest. Neither he nor I were mortified. Then we went to Ponderosa. It was actually not weird to me at all. With my oldest, She was 12. I was home but my husband went to the store for pads and brought them home and gave them to her as I stood there and then went about his life. I didn't get her a gift that day, as she was young to me and we were not expected it. I made her favorite meal and later got her birthstone earings to celebrate (weeks later)

Won’t the blood get all over my other clothes if I put them in the washing machine?

Nope! Washing Thinx with your other laundry is perfectly hygienic and won’t stain your other clothes — if you’re still concerned, you can also give your undies a quick rinse after use, allow them to dry, then throw them in the hamper for laundry day.

I don’t think this is off - it sounds super well-adjusted and lovely.

What's so embarrassing about it? Are you yourself 12?

Then put on your masks, go to CVS, and happen to take a spin through the makeup and candy aisles and say “yes” to everything, suggesting silly or indulgent purchases along the way. That’s a chill but fun memory she will have.

This sounds wonderful, my daughter would love this and she's super private and shy

I am confused about why people think that getting a first period is connected to adulthood in the USA in the year 2020. Are you trying to send the message that she can now become sexually active? Are you going to let her spend evenings out with a boy now? Are you now going to allow her to dress like a Kardashian and present herself as a sexy woman? Are you giving her the keys to your car? In our American culture a menstrual cycle doesn't coincide with any of these things, so this just doesn't make sense to me.

Made my DD a gift basket of sort with menstrual products, tide bleach pen, and chocolate lol. We had some one on one "dates" to talk about changing body, hormones, and whatnot.

But yea keep it to you and your daughter. It's mortifying to have a first period party...nothing to be ashamed of but your kid didn't magically blossom to a woman overnight

your "gift basket" was pretty weird, pp
