The facts are true. Yes, what people take away from those facts may differ. Quotes are from your source.

The Omaha Airport Authority said the Trump campaign rented 40 buses to transport people from remote parking lots to the event site and ran them for 10 hours. The bus company confirmed Wednesday that those drivers were paid, deflating another incorrect rumor circulating on social media.

They were not paid at the site, which is why t hey did not return. They have been paid since then -- after the social media outing about the problem.

The anticipated buses were not there. This is why:

OPD said additional Metro Area Transit buses were called in after the event to help transport people away from the rally.

...
Officers also gave rides to elderly and handicapped attendees as they were able, the spokesman said.

There were people still waiting at the site for transport by bus until 11:50 pm, about 3 hours AFTER the rally was over at "about 9pm."

The weather station at the airport recorded the temp as 34 degrees with a wind chill of 27 degrees at 8:52 p.m. Tuesday, with the temperature dropping to 33 degrees with the same wind chill by 11:52 p.m. … The last person leaving the rally site by bus was on board at 11:50 p.m., and pedestrian and vehicle traffic was back to normal by 12:30 a.m., OPD said.

People were taken to the hospital.

Between five and seven people were taken from Tuesday night’s MAGA rally with various medical conditions, authorities said. Others needing medical attention were “contacted by medics over the duration of the event, not just at the end,” the OPD spokesman said.

So, in typical Trump fashion, he didn't pay all of the rental bus companies, so at least one did not stay for the return trip. And as a result, Omaha police and Omaha MAT busses had to be dispatched to help stranded ralliers.

But between Trump and McConnell, they are stripping away any protections for state and local relief from Covid-19. So, now Omaha had to pay overtime to police and pay for MAT busses to help bail out the Trump ralliers (and some of the driver's were likely going to have to be paid overtime).

I hope the Trump supporters in Nebraska are happy that their taxes are going to support the Trump rally and that they are satisfied that they are losing public services and budget money to supporter the freeloading Trump campaign.

Oh, and I love the message that Trump expects his supporters to show up and support him, but then he just abandons them out in the cold....again.

So they rented the buses for 10 hours, starting at 10AM, ending at 8PM. Rally ended at 9PM. Just curious what the plan was for getting the people back to their vehicles or wherever they came from. My 10YO would have figured out that they needed buses for longer than 10 hours in this scenario. Or if you only had a 10-hour agreement with the bus company, start it later, so you have coverage post-event. Good grief. He really just cared about getting as big a crowd there as he could. Screw them all after the photo of was over.

Seriously! If someone doesn't see a problem when an event that ends at 9:03 PM doesn't get the last participants back to their cars until 11:45 PM, leaving them waiting outside in freezing, windy temperatures, then I don't know what to say.

Maybe PP feels that having only 5-7 people transported to the hospital afterward with medical concerns wasn't seen as the positive note that they feel it is?

It was a stupid place to hold an event but Trump wants them at the airport so he can just get off the Air Force One, give his rambling bullshit tweet-speech, and then quickly get away from whatever hellhole his supporters call home.

The rally site was 3 miles from the parking lots, with one narrow road in and out. They had a lot of problems getting people to the site even though they arrived a 4-6 hour period. Some people were still trying to get to the rally at the time it ended. And of course, any real person who has ever attended any event without VIP transportation knows that getting out is ten times harder than getting in, because everyone is trying to leave at the same time. Every bus in town should have all been there ready to take people out, not miles away waiting to try to go against the flow on the one narrow road against the traffic and and all the people walking to their cars.

That still sounds pretty awful. What’s been overblown?

The lie about the bus drivers “not being paid”? You people are the worst rumor-mongers I’ve ever come across.

Transportation from the site to parking areas began immediately following the event, an OAA spokesman said, but many people opted to forego the wait for a bus ride and walk back to their vehicles. OPD said the shortest walk back to a parking lot was 2.5 miles and that “foot traffic on Lindberg Drive slowed bus traffic and delayed bus trips considerably.”

This thread is the epitome of concern-trolling. You’re the same people who call Trump voters “garbage” and worse. Yet you claim to be so worried about them being out in the cold. What BS. The rally-goers are perfectly able to make their own decisions - if they choose to attend a rally in freezing weather, that’s their choice. No one “abandoned” them there.

Worried? No. We’re astounded by their astronomical levels of stupidity.

The point is that the Trumps couldn’t organize their way out of a paper bag. They’re not presidential material.

+1. It sounds like this event was planned by someone who has never planned an event in their life. Just like the coronavirus response.

Well, sure, they were paid AFTER this blew up on social media, but NOT at the time and place originally agreed on.

This is just like all those contractors Trump stiffed for his buildings. Most of them never got paid, presumably because back then he didn't have an ongoing re-election to protect, so tought news for them.
