Burgundy washcloths in place of sanitary napkins

I find my Always with wings and Tampax Pearl perfectly satisfactory. No muss no fuss. Why would you want to deal with laundering the washcloths? Nasty. And doesn't it feel like a wadded up diaper stuffed in your underwear?

As far as the "cat toy" tampon.... WTH? Gross.

PP here... just another thought: why aren't tampons and pads tax deductible? I could get on my feminist soapbox about this.

Guess if you use washcloths you don't incur that expense regularly. But still... gross.

She admitted it in another thread. I'm too lazy to search for it.

PP here. The prior post was a response to the 10:17. I'm also too lazy to quote, apparently.

This doesn't give me an idea of what it looks like. Is there a better image somewhere?

No, what's nasty is having to Shout the skidmarks out of my DH's boxers. Gross. You'd think a 45 y/o would have mastered the art of wiping his ass correctly.

As far as feel, it just feels like my panty has an extra soft liner. I can't believe I'm sitting here arguing for this. I feel like I've warped back in time 10 years, and next I'll be doing wheatgrass shots instead of coffee, growing out my fro again, and forgoing bras so that my boobs can be free once more... only after 2 kids they'll now be free to proudly sag down to my knees.

And for the *cat toy*.... go back to the first page. It's the one of the first few posts and the funniest thing you'll see EVER.

That's really the most natural way.

Sitting in a shelter outside with nothing on down there during that time is the most environmental way.

Actually, I am with PP, for the most part. Works for me.

You said it! That's nasty!

You can get the DivaCup at Whole Foods. It's cheaper online though. It's a fantastic product. I'll never go back to tampons.

Anonymous wrote:Well it sounds gross, I know. But I have a friend who does this: she has five rotating burgundy washcloshs which she simply rolls up in her panties and uses as a sanitary napkin. She says her system is ecofriendly (although I think she machine washes the cloths). I actually don't know why they would need to be burgundy.

Anyway, I am always looking for ways to cut down, and I'm thinking of giving it a whirl. What do you girls think?

Where do you think the term "being on the rag" comes from when alluding to the a women's period. This is also what they pre-maxi pad/tampon days. There was no CVS in Colonial Williamsburg.

I like mine, too. Much more comfortable than tampons.

Sounds like he needs a brown washcloth in back there!

Thank you for reviving this! I'm crying from laughing so hard.

How do you store the reuseable pads until washday? How do you keep the dogs away? How do you keep the cops away when the neighbors complain that someone has died in my flat?

I'm not saying the desperate poster is making it up. We do what we have to do.

Yes, yes she did, and I love her for it. Soooooo many people bought it. H.i.l.a.r.i.o.u.s.
