Burgundy washcloths in place of sanitary napkins

Is that a crocheted mouse?!? I just can't get on board with shoving a cat toy up my vagina.

lol my thoughts exactly! To the person who posted the pix, I cannot thank you enough. I haven't laughed so hard in weeks!

I loved my divacup! They're not to be used with an IUD, though..

I've done the washcloth thing before postpartum. Felt more comfortable but the pant lines were annoying.

That looks good too, but postpartum I haven't used tampons (things sort of moved around, and now tampons are uncomfortable), so I doubt the Diva Cup would work for me either.

I like the reusable sanity pad, though. That sounds way better than my washcloth idea.

Okay, I know everyone is going to think I'm not being serious, but.....

My mom is from a third world country and grew up dirt poor.

When I first got my period, instead of sanitary napkins, she had me use pieces of cloth, safety pinned to my underwear. It wasn't until I was older that we started using pads.

Honestly, it works fine. Just rinse them out, then put them in the laundry (kinda like cloth diapers). And, if you use cotton pieces, they're not too uncomfortable.

Just wanted to post another opinion. Please don't bash me.

On another board I am on, someone posted a product called "Party in my pants" and it was a reusable sanitary pad. LOL!

The Diva cups come in different sizes, so if you are interested you shoudl be able to find one that would work for you.

I'd go the Diva cup route over washing cloths.

But honestly, feminine products are really inexpensive. I can't see why anyone is "paying a fortune" for them, compared to what everything else in life costs. It's a drop in the bucket.

My concern is capacity and slippage. I don't want no accidents at work.

NASTY! The environment is going to deal with my disposable tampons.

How the hell would I be able to workout with a rolled up washcloth in my crotch?!!! Thank god for innovation----it has allowed women to progress in society instead of washing their monthly rags in a bucket of water.

Besides the eco-friendly aspect of cloth, it is actually much healthier for you, especially if you use organic fabric.

BUT... having used cloth diapers on DC1, I can attest to the need for more bulk of fabric per volume of liquid: hence I envision panty lines, bunching, etc! Fabric ones will not contain a deodorizer, so they should probably be changed more often, too.

The re-usable pad looks so darn cute, though... thank you for posting that picture, I might use small ones like it to replace my panty-liners, instead of spending a fortune on Seventh Generation chlorine-free ones!

So many women on here are so uncomfortable with their bodies. Should I wax before giving birth? How can I preserve my modesty during birth? Tee-hee -- those cloth sanitary pads and tampons are just hilarious!! Get over it.

And changing them at work. Would I need to purchace a 100% airtight container (think steel thermos) to contain them to bring them home for washing? I really don't want colleagues or clients to wander into my office and wonder: "What's that smell... oh, I know what that is..." Gah.
