Right. Well since I’ve been a member of LMVSC for some time now let me remind you Alexandria beat every team except one of ours this past year. We don’t have an 06 girls team and our 07 girls only had like 12 players, so they had to play in NCSL (still struggled). About half of the 02 girls left, and about a third of the 03 girls. The 04 girls struggled and lost a lot of their top players. So what does that leave? There was one 08 team and now they’re 11v11, so I doubt they’ll compete. Go check CCL standings. All the info is there. Just about everybody that left last reason we’re red players. We’ll lose plenty this season as well (including us). |
We are not competitive in the boys side either. Our white players became the red players and struggled in CCL too. Maybe the club should be playing in NCSL instead. Tired of losing. I know kids are leaving the club. |

First post. I checked the CCL standings; I was only familiar with DS (NCSL). So except for two teams, all teams are near last or at least bottom half. This isn’t our players’ fault, this is a reflection of our program. Most players that left were red players. I accept that. So why are we still in CCL? Clearly we didn’t participate in CCL2 this year because it would’ve been too difficult. Why don’t we just play NCSL and focus on developing the players? How does the idea of an academy help development? It’s basically white teams and blue teams filling red and white. How does that bring about development, and especially to compete against CCL teams.
Boys 02: last 03: 3rd from last 04: last (not in CCL) 05: 2nd from last 06: 8th (losing record) 07: first 08: 8th Girls 02: last 03: 8th (losing record) 04: 2nd from last 05: 6th 06: no team 07: 2nd to last (not in CCL) 08: 2nd to last (no wins) |

For all the talk about “community”, I’ll tell you what I didn’t hear during townhall: a plan for DD to get to college. For the red players that stayed, I don’t see them making that mistake again. Especially anybody playing 11v11. And for all the talk about “community”, I don’t know why so many parents are supporting this new academy because that’s what Alexandria does.
We had a community and great place to play and grow. We had excellent teams and players. And in one year, it’s gone. Apparently white and blue level players practicing together will make them red level players, because that worked so well this year. |
why are we on CCL? I think all of our kids would do so much better in NCSL. I haven't heard any coaches or admin. talking about it. I think the Academy idea is a total disaster too. We are not Alexandria or in Europe (I can't believe they said that), we need to do what is best for the kids and stop pretending. |
07 girls finished 2nd in their ncsl division and only lost 1 game in league play. Not world beaters but let's maybe stick to facts. |
| BUT BUT BUT Lee was going to come in as TD and change the program at Lee Mt what happened? Did he not turn things around? Lula must be furious maybe they can try to get that TD from California that pulled out last minute. |
Agreeing to facts—like I said I checked CCL site. What NCSL division were they in I didn’t check NCSL site. First Division? |
Parents are mad again and they are trying to pick a fight with Alexandria now! haha. |
Huh? I don’t think there has been any of that. You SYC coaches aren’t too smart or subtle. |
Wait, the problem is with SYC then? Why do I see so much Alexandria talk here then? I thought you gave up on SYC last year but I guess I'm wrong! |
I don’t know what division they were in for Fall but they were slated to play in the third division for this Spring. 5 divisions total for 07 girls |
And good work to the kid efforts but this is all kind of my point. We had a GREAT program. It promoted players, it was competitive. I’m man enough to admit: I thought we were going to be okay. But almost every player that left was red team, that should tell you something. And then when so many of those players went to SYC with their coaches, I think it kind of demonstrates what the value of what our system was. And what’s the fix? Mixing white and blue to recreate red. The U8, U9 kids maybe. But I didn’t hear anything to demonstrate a reasonable program for my kid to play in college. This is not an insult to any of our players. But I paid good money for a program (don’t even get me started on “refund”) that didn’t produce much growth in my player, and now, they’re going to blanket it across the entire program up to U15? Again, I can see where this road leads. Look at the older boys; if not for Annandale we wouldn’t have a win from 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001. And the girls side... we’re missing teams now when we used to qualify for National League and actually have college coaches attend showcases. This is our community, and now it’s just trying to be Alexandria. Well we’re not. And that means it’s not actually about community, just a paycheck. |
| Hmmm, let’s say they hadn’t switched to academy, what do you propose they should have done different? Serious question, not saying that this new format is the answer. If they kept everything the same, would have players come back? If red players left than obviously quality was going to be lower from one year to the other. I don’t think there will be much change other than them all training together vs separately. |
Not the above poster; I stopped commenting a little bit ago. Focus on individual attention to grow the player and not “standardization”. I asked several times what “standardization” is supposed to mean, since they didn’t offer any supporting information. Is it subjective and coach opinion, or is it objective and measurable? Silence. But it doesn’t matter to me anymore. As was pointed out pretty well above, i heard a little too much about community to just blindly accept the “hey Alexandria does this” approach. Well give me one reason why I shouldn’t go to Alexandria? It’s in the same city and they’ve been doing this for longer anyways. |
