If you are in your mid 30s-40s and your face looks good

Can you recommend a retinol product or is it prescription?

You can get a prescription, or try Differin It used to be prescription only but you can buy over the counter now. I find that it’s not as irritating as some retinol products. I have seen an improvement in texture, fine lines,, and it helps the occasional breakout o get around my period.

I am 35 and my skin looks good. I have never done any Botox or fillers. I am a habitual sunscreen user though (since teenage years) and wash my face every day. Plus I am Asian. We don't have wrinkles until we are old and then we literally look 80 immediately!

If you’re fine looking your age, basic skincare routine others have discussed is fine, but if you want jlo you’ll need basic plus fillers, Botox, lasers, unless you’re a genetic miracle whose skin doesn’t age.

I find it so idiotic when people reference celebrities who they've only seen either in print, on film, or in person with professional makeup.

You’d have to be blind to not see that jlo looks very young filters/makeup/photoshop or not, and furthermore, to not see the noticeable difference between GP and JLo.

You're an idiot. Comparing JL and GP is like comparing watermelons and oranges. GP has type I skin, very pale see through and JL is latina - they are sure to age differently. Asians and AA age differently than whites. White skin is the worst for aging.

GP also used to be a smoker and has almost always had a lower BMI than JLo.

No offense but it probably shows. I think OP wants to hear from attractive people, not boring 33 year olds with acne who can't be bothered to wash their face.

NP here. Please. 90% of it is genetic.

This is true. My mother and her mother didn't wrinkle much. I doubt they used sunscreen and one of them smoked!

Their faces wrinkled a little and they sagged a bit, but they looked really good for their ages.

Same. I actually think it's probably more like 95%

I just turned 39. I spend about $4,000/year on Botox and fillers for around the mouth. A year ago I spent about $1,700 on a laser treatments for brown/red spots. Skincare products are tough to estimate (I should really add this up). I generally use good drugstore brands (Cetaphil/Cerave or lesser expensive natural brands Alba, Acure) for washes and moisturizers. Toners/acid are La Roche Posay, Ren, Alba. Sunscreen is Elta MD (cheaper from Costco). Makeup is always good quality but I don’t use much so rarely buy it. Have semi oily skin and still battle acne, but also have extremely sensitive skin so have to be careful with products. Been doing Botox and fillers for almost two years and will never stop. Honestly I never thought I would spend so much on my face but the results are worth it. It’s definitely a luxury though and I have to budget.

Forgot to add that I’ve never smoked and rarely have a drink.

I’m 35 and don’t have any wrinkles yet. When I’m not pregnant or nursing I use ROC retinol. I also like Clinique cleanser, and genifique eye cream, Clinique sunscreen. The biggest thing is to have a healthy lifestyle. I probably drink maybe once every two months and stop at one.

Oh, forgot to mention, I do maybe twice a month a mud mask followed by an Origins moisturizer.

If you are already spending $4k+ a year before 40 are you worried about what will you be spending in your 60s? Gabby Reece wrote about 'chasing the face' with Sheryl Crow. It was about work you have done creating different problems elsewhere and the slippery slope to having to get more and more and more done as time goes on. They opted out eventually.

Did the brown spots return? I find even with heavy sunscreen use and hats---they eventually start to come back.

Every single 60 year old had as wrinkles. Sorry.

My whole entire maternal side has no wrinkles. Sagging skin, yes. Wrinkles no. And I have aunts in their 80’s.

That's the same with my family. Unfortunately quick fixes like Botox don't work on sagging skin.

I am 42. No wrinkles but my skin is starting to sag. What can I do short of a face lift? Fillers scare me.

If you're sagging, you'll need a face lift of some sort to correct that (could be mid-face lift, lower face lift, who knows). And no, you're not too young.

You're smart to be scared of fillers. Fillers FILL, facelifts LIFT. If you add filler to a sagging face, the face will just get bigger, not tighter.

Yuck. I'm 45 and I don't have wrinkles and I never use any products on my face beyond moisturizer in the winter. I never use sunscreen either, unless I'm going to be at the beach on a hot day for more than three hours. All that stuff OP mentioned is gross and dangerous. Then people end up with cancer and weird undiagnosable symptoms and they wonder why. My skin looks great, FWIW.
