If you are in your mid 30s-40s and your face looks good

Anonymous
Skincare products- Probably $1500/year
Quarterly peels at $500/peel
Botox-$800/year
Filler-$1000/year
Facials (not into these, really) $600/year

I'm 34. I've been on retin-a and have used vitamin c and high spf sunscreen daily since I was 12, so I probably don't "need" everything, but I am all about prevention and I have the kind of skin that that does better with more.

I’m 33 and honestly, I do nothing. Neutrogena anti-acne face wash when I can remember, but that’s it.

My skin looked good into my 40s. It helps to have oily skin, moisturize the dryer areas, and stay completely out of the sun as much as possible, and always wear a hat / sunblock on the face. I used a sunblock plus makeup with SPF when I was younger as well as now.

No smoking, maybe one drink a week at most, no jogging. My parents also looked younger, and also had oily skin, so that helps too.

I’m 36 and just got Botox for the first time - had my fabulous-looking dermatologist do it. I was starting to form resting wrinkles on 11s and forehead, so decided to give it a try. I like the results, not drastic, not even 100% smooth & wrinkle free, but natural.

I paid around $250-300 and would be willing to go once or twice per year. I can also see how it can get addictive and out of hand.

Late 30s and this is my go-to except I do use it every morning.

Early 40s. Cleanse and moisturize every night with whatever products you like best. Sunscreen every day. Lots of water. I added retinol after 40 and it seems to help. I don’t think it’s the expensive products that make a huge difference, it’s whether you use them regularly.

I probably spend $4000 a year. I’m 45 yrs old and have flawless skin. I did not have acne as a teen. In my twenties I was broke and beauty regimens were not a priority. I basically used moisturizer and stayed out of the sun. I also never used foundation. That’s all you need to do at your age.

At your age, I’d use vitamin c and sunscreen. I’d get a Clear and Brilliant laser treatment a couple times a year and baby Botox for prevention.

I'm in my 60s and I do have a few wrinkles now, but when I was in my 40s and even 50s I had great skin, used to get compliments on it all the time. And also people would underestimate my age regularly.

I never wore any makeup, ever. That's probably the main reason. Because I also used to suntan regularly, didn't start using sunscreen until the last ten years, and I've smoked everyday since I was 15.

Oh, and how much did I spend on keeping my face so lovely? Zero, although I do use some moisturizer on my face and body now.

Anonymous wrote:The most important thing you can do - after the obvious no smoking, Retin-A at night, sunscreen during the day - is Botox. Do small amounts of it and start early on. Do it twice per year. If you're starting to get the slightest hint of 11s or horizontal forehead lines, start getting Botox injected there. It will have a preventative effect. A lot of us started Botox too late. I wouldn't worry about fillers. I think 20s is way too young to start fillers. They can really make you look crazy over time. They're also more expensive and more medically risky.

You will get way more bang for your buck out of Botox, generic Retin-A and sunscreen than you will out of all the, say, Drunk Elephant or Skinceutical products you can find. You don't need that stuff.

Agree with everything.

Every single 60 year old had as wrinkles. Sorry.

+1. Some people are so delusional.

I'm 38 and I don't do anything right now, but am considering it soon. While my skin is okay, I do have a long and angular face--think Courtney Cox or someone like that--so I'm afraid of my face looking too 'drawn."

It's the same as the delusional women here who are 45 and claim they look better than skinny teens and sorority girls in clothes from Brandy Melville.

PP here who posted this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Good skin care is expensive. You've got some time though. Agree with the vit C and sunscreen for you for now. Add in a retinol at night sometime before 30.

I'm 36, in a wealthy social circle, and don't know of anyone doing botox and fillers in my age range give or take a couple years. It isn't to say they don't..but they have never brought it up.

I don't do fillers or botox but good products are expensive, as are the facials I do every 6 weeks. I may consider IPL in the future at some point.
