If there were 5 rapes reported in ONE college town in one week, I would hope some politicians or County/City officials would come forward and express concern. Maybe discuss what they could do to ameliorate the situation? Wouldn’t you?

Sure. One that can be solved in part by deporting criminals before they get an opportunity to rape women and children.

So you only want to find the rapists who aren’t documented? Guess the vast majority will get a free pass. Not surprising given the Brett K supporters.

It’s amazing how “deport illegal immigrant criminals” has become a controversial proposition. In a sane world, it would be viewed as a sensible first step, reducing risk and allowing the police to focus on other criminals.

On what planet has this become controversial? Both parties should be behind this completely and totally. Most citizens should be behind this completely and totally.

I am truly trying to understand where the support is coming for politicians who do NOT support deporting illegal immigrant criminals. Where is the money coming from that continues to support such insane policy? The wealthy in MoCo must really, really be benefiting from allowing illegal immigrant criminals to flourish in the county. Not sure what other sane reason there is for this nonsense.

Agree 100%. It's only controversial to crazy leftists and socialists who want to import votes for their cause (if not allowing illegals to vote outright, counting on the kids they'll have who will end up becoming citizens because of birthright citizenship).

Crazy leftist socialist here! I am fine with deporting undocumented people who commit violent crimes. I was also fine with that approach under the Obama administration. What I don't like is the demonizing of all undocumented immigrants, or all immigrants. What I don't like is using the idea of "violent illegal criminals" to jump to bs statements like "half of all MCPS students are illegals." And I REALLY don't like faux outrage over (<10% of) rapes just to further this anti-immigrant hysteria. THAT'S the bs that needs to stop.

But that is the weird part. We can agree to disagree regarding how strictly to enforce immigration laws as to run-of-the-mill undocumented immigrants. I’m sure I am in favor of a much stricter approach than you are, but can see that there are arguments on both sides. It certainly seems, though, that authorities in many “sanctuary” jurisdictions are so opposed to cooperating with immigration enforcement that they would rather turn violent criminals loose on the street rather than work to assist in their deportation. That really is an “outrage,” it seems to me that it is being swept under the rug, and I think it is perfectly legitimate to make a lot of noise about the issue given that. Is there any factual dispute about whether that has been happening?
