s/o Most Beautiful College Campuses

I’m partial to Yale and Princeton, at least among universities. Yale has the most interesting architecture and Princeton has the most idyllic campus.

West point. Beautiful architecture, mountains and rivers.

Agree. I visited the two campuses as well as those of 4 other ivies'. Yale and Princeton are the most breathtaking. Take a day and walk around the campus of each, you will be awed by the beautiful architecture of Yale and its delightful residential college courtyards. Or stroll in Princeton, the idyllic atmosphere and surroundings are just like poems. You really have to go visit to feel the beauty.

What a treat would it be to spend 4 years of one's most consequential period of life studying in such colleges.

I have only seen Cornell once in the late fall, early winter, on a gray cloudy day, late in the afternoon. I thought it was dismal.

I did like Princeton.

Cornell is gorgeous in the early fall and late spring. Colby is quite nice as well.

For a lot of schools, it may depend on when you see them. You see pictures of University of Washington with blossoms an a view of Mount Rainier, but the blossoms aren't always blooming and you can't see Rainier on many days. UCLA on the other hand, doesn't have the greatest of architecture to my eye (the 1960s buildings, not the original buildings), but it usually gives a really pleasant vibe due to the nice weather.

Cornell has bad days, but it probably doesn't look quite as good on a dreary day when you are walking up a 20 degree incline in 30 degree weather to get a 40 on your engineering test.

Restate: Cornell has <good> days, but it probably doesn't look quite as good on a dreary day when you are walking up a 20 degree incline in 30 degree weather to get a 40 on your engineering test[b].

Hahahaha. Very true.

+1 - I went to one of the other 5C but felt strongly enough to make sure this was mentioned.

Yes, they are, particularly Cambridge. The only possible caveats I might have is they are nicer to visit in Summer, there are too many tourists, and you can't get in to see most colleges. Stunning architecture, landscaping, and history, though.

In the U.S., I'd say Yale is closest to Oxbridge in architecture. The U.S. has something the UK doesn't really have -- the Liberal Arts College -- and there a number of pretty ones like Sewanee, Scripps, Bryn Mawr, Vassar, etc. There are also schools with more stunning vistas, like Colorado.

Rollins College.

I went to a wedding there in March. I had never heard of this school before I got the invite. It was gorgeous. Palm trees, Spanish architecture, etc. in an equally beautiful of Orlando- I was impressed.

I went to a wedding there years ago, I I still remember everything about the campus and wedding chapel. So beautiful! Surprised more people don't know about it here. Wellesley is gorgeous, too - the town, and the college. The town has many big, old, beautiful residences that are historically preserved, and have special historic designation, such that they are historic landmarks and can not be replaced. Stunning!
